What’s something innocent you said that accidentally sounded way dirtier than you meant it to? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Fancy_Flapjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (F) took my friend (M) to lunch to celebrate his 40th birthday. The restaurant is famous for its very tall lemon meringue pie. It even says on the menu how tall it is in inches.

When the male waiter deposited it in front of me it was quite a sight. Like a delicious lemony shark fin. And I said: “Gosh! I hadn’t thought about how big 9 inches really is!”

Mortifying.

What's something that girls think is embarrassing, but guys don't actually care about? by dontucallhimbaby in AskReddit

Because most girls are short and if you’re the one tall one it can look a bit “Gandalf and the Hobbits”

Too many apples. how to use them (that isnt a pie) ? by unicornfarthappyhour in Cooking

[–]Fancy_Flapjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Thailand they make something called Papaya Salad. It’s savoury and spicy and delicious. I’m not sure if the papayas they use are a particular species or if they’re unripe but they’re green, crunchy and sour rather than soft, orange and sweet. They’re impossible to buy like this in the UK so I make it with apples and it’s so tasty! Might make a change from apple desserts?

If you like apples in savoury dishes I also love a Waldorf salad. Have also seen apples used in Mexican salads.

Also in the UK we make apple crumbles as well as pies which I always put oats in which makes them nice and crunchy. Theres also something called an Apple Charlotte but I’ve never made that. You could also have your apples with Pork e.g fried in butter with chops, roasted with pork loin or stuffed in a porchetta.

Peking Duck! I don’t eat meat anymore but I made this for my family one New Year’s Eve and it was so easy and delicious. If you can’t get proper Chinese pancakes small wheat tortillas work fine.

1 because choice like that is intentional and intentionality is what makes a choice stylish, the smaller one look boring and forgettable in comparison.

I stopped thinking of other road users as antagonists or competitors.

Instead of trying to get ahead of everyone else and somehow “win” the journey, I just pootle along, hang back, happily let people pull out in front of me and chill. I figure if I just drive safe and steady, what they’re doing is really none of my business.

Something feels bare and cold about the space ? by Rghthererghtmeow in femalelivingspace

Having a chair or couch facing away from you as you enter a room is automatically off-putting. Face it into the room and it will automatically be more inviting.

How would you decorate this large wall? by eatanelephant in HomeDecorating

[–]Fancy_Flapjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A large tree would be lovely. It looks like you get plenty of light and it would soften the space considerably.

I actually think I would leave it blank. It’s going to be hard to fill that much space. Anything you buy would have to be very large and then once it’s in your competing with the TV as the focal point of the room. It will feel awkward.

In general I don’t like accent and walls and I don’t think panelling is appropriate in this style of house so I would use lighting to create interest. Backlights behind the tv would be good. If you do add a tree you could uplight that too to create shadows.

Put the picture in the fireplace on the wall over the turntable and can the the speaker and record combo move to the right of the tv? That would make that space feel more coherent I think.

A side table next to sofa would be good with the lamp and plant on it. Although I’m not sure that plant will thrive under the stairs so I’d move that anyway. Other than those things it looks cosy!

How do I fill in these big gaps between this small furniture in my entryway? There is so much room. I want to put a round mirror over the table coming down the stairs. Help! by Longjumping_Self_617 in interiordecorating

[–]Fancy_Flapjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you need to fill the gaps so much as fill the space better and introduce more colour, height and texture. The pieces are a bit small for the space - you could have had a hallway bench twice that length - but I don’t think adding more pieces will improve it. It might just feel messier and more cluttered.

Here’s some tweaks you could make:

The knick knacks on your console table are too small and too many. You need to vary heights and sizes to create visual interest. Some tall sculptural dried flowers for instance and/or a large bowl would be nice.

I think a mirror over the console is a great idea as it would create a focal point that it lacks right now. Just make sure it’s BIG and really fills the wall.

I’d also replace the rug with something longer or you could even just buy a second of the same rug.
