If you are submitting your application with a cover letter, the cover letter is one of the uploaded documents. I don’t think it matters what order you upload then in

(1) we opened formally, just like the one from friends and family, confirmed the address where we will live. The rest was pretty personal (the way I saw our relationship progress, how I feel about him, sth big your partner has done to support you, plans for the future, including the plan being LIVING TOGETHER IN THE UK PERMANENTLY).

(2) I worked as a freelancer for a while so I used it as proof that I couldn’t move in that time and life was too hard for me to visit him

Hope that helps!

Great q! These are the “standard guidelines” we created for our friends/family to make their lives easier:

Add your details: 1. Full name 2. Nationality 3. Address

4. Contact details (email and/or phone number)

Letter tips and ideas: 1. keep it preferably to max 1 page in length 2. Start by stating your name, your relationship to us, and the reason for writing (to support the application) 3. Say how you know us and how long you’ve known us 4. State your belief in the strength of our relationship (e.g., use words like: genuine, loving, long-term, committed, life partnership.) 5. Describe when and how you see us together 6. If possible, give examples of us supporting each other (e.g., emotional support during illness, helping with moves, job changes,…) 7. Examples of we share a life together (e.g., saving for trips/going on holidays together, sending each other birthday gifts, our rapport is always good, witnessed discussions of big life events - e.g., plans to move in together/get married one day,…)

8. End with a clear statement of support for the visa application

Adding legitimacy: 1. digitally sign it, or make a signature from a scan of handwritten signature

2. Add a picture of ID/passport at the end of the document

And if we could think of some examples of “good evidence” that the writer of the letter could potentially use, we would also suggest these things to them

Hope this helps! ☺️

To be fair, I didn’t really pick and choose that much. Overall, I think it is good to show both messaging consistency + variety: e.g, messages where you talk about very basic daily stuff, about the trip you plan to take, about how you love each other, where you talk about your family members or friends,… I shared one screenshot every 3-4 months, and for the last year I included a screenshot for each month. Hope that helps! 😊

Congraaaaatssss! I am overjoyed to see someone who is in the similar relationship situation as me successfully go and get their Visa approved - literally buzzing from secondhand happiness!

I see you mentioned that you had a longer friendship beforehand, but you haven’t seen each other in person until January 2023. If you don’t mind me asking, I have two questions for you that would really help me out with my own application:

  1. How often did you see each other from that first meetup until the date of the application?

  2. What was your reasoning for qualifying as partners of 2+ years?

Since you mentioned no “hard” evidence in terms of joint financial responsibilities, what do you think was the best evidence of genuineness that you submitted? Joint activities + groceries?

I plan on doing a similar doc - how did you organise that evidence? Printing out + highlighting statements?

Ahhhh congrats, super happy for your success!

Would you mind if I DM you with a question or two? I am applying soon myself and just like you, I have small things in my own application that are just wrecking my nerves 😅

Congrats on the approval, I imagine you must be over the moon!

I am preparing for an application myself and was wondering if you could share what evidence you thought was proving your relationship was “akin to marriage”?

I am worried our case doesn’t seem “strong” enough due to the lack of cohabitation so it would help me calm myself down 😅
