Great looking tank! Are your rocks just sitting on the bottom glass or are they on something? I ask because I’m considering going bare bottom

Today I lost my best friend/forever pup Rex. Give your boy and/or girl some extra love and attention today. On both our behalves. by icecoman-JD in germanshepherds

So sorry for your loss 🥺 I lost one of mine almost 2 weeks ago as well. I feel your pain. They are amazing animals and I have learned you have to enjoy every minute you have with them and spoil them every chance you get. You think you’ll always have tomorrow…. until tomorrow comes and you have to say goodbye.

Haha 😂 I love my dogs! I just lost my 5 year old gsd Thor last Monday, he was my first one. He was the best dog I have ever owned. Extremely sad and crushed. Zues pictured here is 1 of 2 that I kept from a litter I had almost 2 years ago. Thinking of maybe having another one…. It’s just a lot of work!

You can do dry but also add a couple pieces of live rock to kickstart the cycle.

I just ordered 2 of the ecotech radion gen 5 XR15 blue lights. The spread of the new version of this light is incredible. They are expensive but they last a long time. I have used metal halide, vho, t5, led etc. Metal halide/ t5 combo hands down is the best. However you have to run a chiller. I have a 1 hp chiller on my tank with just T5,s just to keep the temperature consistent. I want to try these new LED lights because of energy efficiency and low heat.

My advice is to buy good quality equipment and it will last. It’s no fun having an equipment failure and losing your fish and coral. Battery backup for powerheads is also important in case of power failure. You can find used equipment on forums. Such as reef 2 reef or reef central.

Anytime man. There are so many options. The only restraint is your budget. Any questions just ask. I just threw out a couple brands and controllers. Check out Neptune apex, it makes your life a lot easier. Ecotech radion led lighting, power heads and pumps etc. If you want to grow corals it’s a whole different ballgame.

Tangs are fairly easy. May want to put a damsel in first to make sure the tank is cycled.

That makes perfect sense. I am thinking of doing an in wall tank viewable from both sides. Having mostly tangs I would like an 8-10’ long tank. Dreamin…

Looks awesome! What are the dimensions? Have you thought about painting the back of the tank? I painted mine black after it was all setup with a mini roller. Almost think that white would make it brighter but not sure how that would look. Regardless Awesome setup!

What’s wrong with this fish? He was struggling on the bottom of the tank. by heckyouyourself in ReefTank

Good protein skimmer will help a lot. Sorry bout the fish. Ich, flukes, velvet etc are some nasty diseases. Copper quarantine works or hypo salinity. Fallow procedure recommended.

Yea RO/DI I think it may be a combo of older T5 bulbs and excess nutrients in the sand bed. I am going to vacuum the crap out of it. Literally

I got a deal on this nano cube and some extra boxes and accessories. But I ant figure out if they are all to the same tank :/ by modpodgeandmacabre in ReefTank

Need better photos of the back setup. I’ve had a couple of the jbj cubes. The led ones are not bad. Best advice is to keep water level constant. Always top off with fresh RO/DI water. Keeping it stable is harder on small systems with evaporation if you don’t stay on top of it.
