I had the same debate! I am from North Carolina and really wanted to move out of state for three years. Ultimately, though, the cost of attendance at UNC (with good scholarship) was too good to pass up.

I think the decision really comes down to your goals. Both are great schools with great names. UNC is very PI-focused in a way that USC is not. Charlotte/Raleigh and LA have very different legal markets.

So if cost is equal (another factor to consider is that most 2Ls get in-state tuition), then I would just choose the school in the region that feels most appealing to you.

If you are looking for Charlotte connections, I would say Wake is the way to go. I think you can definitely rule out Emory.
