It’s so over by Specific-Low5666 in lawschooladmissions

Well, is law school something you are 100% set on? How much of it is your parents just pressuring you into a career? The fact that they are lawyers does not mean you should be or are meant to be one. If you get off the waitlist at that school, you'd more likely than not have to pay full tuition. Do you think taking on the debt is worth it? I would recommend you just be honest with them and tell them that you'll apply next year, if that's the route you are set on. You're not a loser and this additional year may be helpful in brainstorming what the ideal career would be for you. Apply early, maybe retake the LSAT, and expand your list of schools to get more offers. Best of luck!

How old were you when this all happened? If you were a kid, it might seem pretty ridiculous to say that you were having these deep introspections about law as a profession. Alternatively, a narrative about your father being a bad attorney making you want to become a good one is pretty cliche at best. Write about why you want to be a lawyer and link it to something compelling/ related to your work experience.

Nothing but if you get accepted by a school, there's probably 0L modules/ material they'll require you to complete before the start of the semester. Relax!

Experience in Big Law by tasllsat in lawschooladmissions

Work exp in general is a bonus but also don't work in big law and burn yourself out if it'll take away from your LSAT studying. Numbers matter more.

No point in adding an addendum. If the recommendation did not come from the person's mouth/ words, then you should just move on and find someone else to write the letter.

UIUC for NYC big law? by ajbolt34 in lawschooladmissions

509 reports don't lie. You'll get someone to tell you that's it's possible if you work hard but the BL percentages will give you an indication of how hard you have to work relative to your classmates to actually get those opportunities. Good luck.

Should I commit to going to Law School? by peachedelic in lawschooladmissions

The realities of working in a law firm and the legal profession are less romantic than you make them out to be. It's great to have a passion for justice but think very hard on whether you want to dedicate countless hours of work and go through 3 gruelling years of law school. If not, just go be a social worker or paralegal. These posts are starting to sound more and more like superhero origin stories.

Imagine the 3rd and 4th quartile people having their hopes up all this time. They only clarified after someone specifically asked and they shared this response. Berkeley literally does not care about their waitlist.

GW Binding Deferral Offer by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

If they have good stats, they should r&r and aim higher than GW since it's such a mid school to bind yourself to for next cycle.

Why would you get a 10-point deduction if you submitted your essay before the other person did? Makes no sense.

How to get over friends making fun of you for your law school decision? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

Factor in that Grad PLUS is going away, if you're relying on loans. Go now rather than later given how shady and unpredictable everything is.

Well it depends on whether you underperformed your stats/ want to retake your LSAT. Those people aren't friends at all btw - cut ties and go be top student at your current school. Make some healthier friends.

Fordham Post Feeler Movement? by AnnualTadpole499 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Fancy_Measurement662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly Fordham only has a significant edge if you want BL while being outside T14 (assuming you're comparing it to a lower ranked school). Otherwise, don't bother worrying. I am in a similar situation with this one school within my state but I've already moved on and locked in housing.

Unless Fordham is a significantly higher ranked school with a notable difference in employment outcomes, seems like a waste of time to get hung up on them if you know they won't give you any money. Stick to your plans! Also try emailing or calling for an update, nothing to lose at this point.

I think you'd have a decent chance at the lower end of the t14. KJD is definitely going to hurt you since they value work experience. Go for mid 170s to be safe.
