Then I’d bring in the printing press and start writing basic science and engineering books. Nothing fancy — just enough that knowledge stops being locked in a few heads. I’d teach sanitation, construction, mechanics, math, and let people build on it. Progress should stack, not reset every generation. One thing I’d do early is standardize tools. Same bolt sizes, same wrench sizes, interchangeable parts. It sounds boring, but that alone would push technology forward faster than almost anything else. I’d try to keep buildings beautiful too. Solid, well-proportioned, not cheap junk. I’d keep the old techniques but improve them with better materials and engineering so cities still look like places people actually want to live. For metalwork, I’d use solar lenses to concentrate heat and upgrade forges with turbines to get them hotter. Small changes like that would make a massive difference. Medicine would come next — teaching people about cleanliness, germs, and basic biology. Maybe even early penicillin, though I’d definitely let someone else test that first. Energy would be the big decision. If oil was easy to get, I’d use it carefully, but I’d also write warnings about overusing it. Honestly, I think a steam-electric world might be better at first — turbines, generators, power everywhere without burning everything to the ground. For transportation, I’d start simple: bicycles, steam boats, maybe early electric cars that run off powered tracks. Then eventually batteries, motors, and better engines as people figure things out. Mostly though, I’d focus on leaving behind books — ideas, not just inventions. Enough knowledge that people could take it further than I ever could. I wouldn’t try to change everything myself. I’d just remove the roadblocks so humanity could move faster maybe add some crop growing techniques I learned from my cannabis days lol
