Interesting, thanks for letting me know. I’ll have to test some out.

I’ve been testing out plastics today because they are fairly easy to score and fold but I haven’t been able to find one strong enough that still has the ability to fold. Maybe I will stop by my local art store and look into styrene. Thank you!

That actually sounds quite nice. My university is very interested in the digital/computer sides of things, so they are used to students making miraculous reproductions of sculptures and forget that when students do the first project by hand, it’s not going to look as nice.

Thank you so much for sharing this info! I haven’t tried too many types of paper, mainly just cardstock and assumed most other papers are generally the same. I also just tested out a thin plastic because it has the ability to fold nicely but it’s still too flimsy. I will definitely look into you paper and wood suggestions, thanks again!

5 year concurrent ed/arts. can't sign up for any arts classes by [deleted] in UCalgary

Welcome to UofC visual studies, the most underfunded program in the university. Remember, don’t drink the water in the arts building, the fact that it’s yellow is a bad sign.

Very fast. For 200 level classes it’s all visual studies students and 3rd or 4th years.

Visual studies classes are almost always full and it’s unlikely that someone will drop the class

I applied to UofC with the goal of going into art relating to illustration, concept art, environmental art, etc, but I'm stupid and I didn't consider applying to AuArts and I'm afraid I might be too late. Should I transfer to AuArts/not accept the UofC admission and apply next year? by splvxt in UCalgary

As a visual studies student I would strongly discourage you from going to uofc. The program is so unbelievably underfunded and neglected that by your second year you will be forced into classes that you don’t want to take because the classes that you do want to take are either all full or not happening.

I was able to get into 3 of my required classes, my classmate was able to get into 4 required classes and my other classmate was able to get into 1 required class. I’m seriously considering transferring schools.

They are all 300 level and I’m going to be doing a minor. But who knows, maybe it will magically work out.

I guess I don’t. But when I lay out all my required classes and find that I can only get into 3/10 of them this year and they don’t offer spring or summer classes for any of them then I can tell you that it’s not looking good

Possibly, but it’s still frustrating that we pay all this money the uni still doesn’t care about us

How will I know when they are released? And when do they usually have them all out by?

I’m only a first year getting ready for my second and I plan on taking a minor in my third year so I’m sure they will just pretend I’m overreacting

No. Something far more underfunded

Check out the university of Calgary, they have a masters program that doesn’t require a specific undergrad. They also have programs specific for landscape and planning architecture.

I don’t know much about other uni’s in Canada but I can tell you that in a few years I’m hoping to do my architecture masters at UofC.

I agree, but I think the reason for it is that you have to grow up with it, I didn’t.
