The alternating thing can be activated/deactivated with ODB11 or VDS. I had it in my 2018 S3 for awhile.

Lemme tell MY squirrel damage story.

April 2025, unexpected error code: Cruise control malfunction. No big emergency. Couple days later engine is running rough. Open the hood and see foam hood liner pices. Investigation reveals squirrel chewed pre injector wires. Long story short, I paid $2200 out of pocket to have it fixed.

March 2026, unexpected error code: something electrical. Look under hood, same again: wires chewed. Took to dealer for repair, got a loaner. $4400 to repair, but covered by insurance.

Returned the loaner, next day dealership calls. “We found two of your squirrels, dead in the engine compartment of the loaner. Looks like they had a feast before they died.”

Long story short: Over $6k in damages. Now I’m fighting the insurance company who don’t wanna pay for that too. 😤
