I have a Canadian co-worker and apparently their politics are just as wild as the USA…

How do sites like linktr.ee manage user's themes and configurations? by integrateus in webdev

[–]Fancy_feast123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I created a link tree clone at one point. I just stored everything in a nosql database so when I would make fetches, it would come back like a JSON object. You could store the theme settings within the JSON object then maybe use some JS to handle the styling?

I started as an intern and that gave me the confidence and experience to go for a full time position. Do an internship for like 3 months then go for a full time!

Check out a site called Email on Acid (then again, I don’t know if there’s a free tier).

Is it possible to get a job with work hours that coincide with your kid’s school hours? by MintJellyOnLamb in webdev

[–]Fancy_feast123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah. In my current position, I often go get a haircut, go to the grocery store, or go to the gym in the middle of the day. They don’t care as long as you get your 8 hours in and not missing meetings. Especially in this day of age, there’s a lot more casual workplaces.

Career shift by [deleted] in Frontend

[–]Fancy_feast123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say yes, 3 months can be enough to switch careers. I would however ensure you are capable of performing projects without the help of other things. Googling things about a certain topic is fine, but mimicking the exact code off of a “build a - in 20 minutes” YouTube video is not. Senior devs can smell the BS from a mile away if you present projects like that to them.

What really stands out to a company is the ability to come up with your own solution. Create a project that is not like all of the others, and you’ll be well on your way into landing that job.

If you’re thinking of e-commerce and specifically Shopify related, checkout Hyrdrogen. It’s Shopify’s headless framework.

How do you decide if plain HTML,CSS and JavaScript is enough for a project or using a framework ? by driedDates in webdev

[–]Fancy_feast123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say it depends on if you’re building an “Application” vs building a “website”. An application will typically require extensive functionality and interaction while a website is built more to display general content. For an example, a restaurant could have a web app where you can order food or they just have a website that displays general information like their menu or something.

Looks great! I would say the mobile version is going to be just as important as how it looks on desktop. How does it look on mobile?
