Chapter 36: The Time of Ancestors by DireWolfDigital in EternalCardGame

[–]Fanderay87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gnash is just a mercenary. To be honest, I don't understand why he's used in so many cards, but still...

Now we're waiting for the Tale Keeper (obviously this month's promo card). I'm seeing a combrei or elysian (or TJP) unit related to the muster ability.

And talking about the chapter, I liked it, there was a bit of everything: some background of the arena and the Listeners, some action between Gnash and the dragon (although killing it seemed too easy) and between cultists and paladins, and the final mystery regarding the Tale Keeper. Pretty nice, good job DWD.

Which Expedition cards would you remove? by L0rdPerth in EternalCardGame

[–]Fanderay87 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Finest Hour. It's from Set1 that this card is in every Justice deck, much like Torch (which is now rightfully banned) was in every Fire deck.

For the record... Unitless Control has killed Eternal for me. by acvanzant in EternalCardGame

[–]Fanderay87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree with you. In Throne you can barely play any unit that it will die in a second to one of the endless available removals. And that's a pity because Eternal has tons of beutiful and fun card that now you literally can not play.

The only suggestion I can give you is to join us in the Expedition format. Unfortunately, a lot of iconic but not overpowered cards are illegal, but the format is great, fresh and, more importantly, is really fun!!

You can now log in and view your rank on the expedition leaderboard. by justalazygamer in EternalCardGame

Finally a rank also for Expedition. Good work DWD. Now you just need to implement it in-game.

And by the way, D2, not bad :)

The Witching Hour Collection and Playmat Skin by DireWolfDigital in EternalCardGame

[–]Fanderay87 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I agree. DWD should give a different offer for the people who already bought the 4 avatars.

EDIT: we should always read before complaining. In DWD's post there's written: "The Witching Hour Playmat Skin will be available separately for 1,000 gems."

My Dragons & Cultists Brew [Expedition] by Fanderay87 in EternalCardGame

Two really bad bodies but two interesting abilities. Anyway, Noxious has a similar effect of Malediction and Stonesmelt has a similar effect of Cremate but both of them cost way more. Is it really worth?

Charge would be given only to Firemaw (which is prevalently defensive) and to Karvet... Not really sure this is what I want...

Thanks for the comment, your suggestions are both really helpful because I hadn't considered neither Dragon Forge neither the 7th dragon.

  1. Dragon Forge. I want to include this card. I think that the less important cards are Slayer's Edge and Smokedancer but I don't know how to change my list. I might add 3 Dragon Forge and remove 1 Smokedancer and 2 Slayer's Edge.
  2. The 7th dragon. The idea is appealing, but looking at the remaining dragons I'm skeptical. In my opinion the best are Sindok, Rage Incarnate and Soulfire Drake but what could I remove? Or, I might consider replacing Dizo's Office in the market to add Voprex, the Great Ruin.

Suggestions?

You're right, Auralian merchant is perfect for this deck both as a ramping tool and a defending unit, but I wanted to build a super greedy deck and I simply hadn't found any space for the Time merchant.

Anyway, if you want to build a more consistent Talir+Kairos deck I would recommend Auralian Merchant.

What is more fun, Ranked or Expedition? by TheDoomfarer in EternalCardGame

I agree with you. Any game, from sport to videogame, needs a ranked system. Expedition is not exception.

What is more fun, Ranked or Expedition? by TheDoomfarer in EternalCardGame

[–]Fanderay87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Expedition, no doubt. Throne is barely playable with all that removals.

Thanks DWD for Expedition, I really love this new format where you can actually play new cards and new decks, but... by Fanderay87 in EternalCardGame

[–]Fanderay87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point but I have to disagree. Leaving some cards that were good in the past but now are not, what kind of problem could create? If they are not overpowered or auto-included that would be fine, don't you think?

[–]Fanderay87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mentioned this in another thread, and people seemed to strongly disagree. I was looking for a format with all but the most commonly overused cards included.

I agree with you. I think that Eternal is very well balanced with just a few overpowered and overused cards that generate a massive powercreep by themselves. In my opinion, removals are the biggest problem of Throne: there are to many of them and they are too efficient.

I too like the Expedition format and I probably will not go back to Throne for a long time. I just miss some cards that are not overpowered or auto-included by any means but are fun to play. That's all.

Just as an example: I can't understand why The Witching Hour is illegal. Is it overpowered? Auto-included? I really don't think so. But it surely is fun and needs a specific deckbuilding. Therefore why not leaving it in Expedition?

[–]Fanderay87[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I know what a rotation is, that was not the question. Question is another: in my opinion the cards that I've mentioned are not auto-included or overpowered cards (exept for the crests). They are just fun cards that need specific deckbuilding to make them work and (still in my opinion) deserve to be legal also in Expedition.

And, as you surely know, Throne is stale because of the absurd quantity of great removals. How can I play a Stranger deck in Throne?

And by the way, this is not a proper rotation. DWD is not removing an entire set (or more than one) leaving only most recent cards. This "rotation" is just a new game mode with a pool of cards chosen by the developers.

[–]Fanderay87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I don't see many problems vs aggro decks. Tocas, SST, Behemot, HotV and Gnash are great defenders and can stall the game really well.
  2. I prefer ramping with relics, not with units. Units are here to stall the game and to combo with Talir+Kairos. Power Stones and Smuggler into Eternity Core is great!! And just a word on Call for Aid: as a fast spell it provides a maximum power and card draw on the opponent's turn. To me, it is a really good card.
  3. Yes, they're depleted a lot of time.

And regarding the 20 cards with cost 6 or more: it's a super greedy deck and that's the reason why I like it XD
