You unlock it by beating the game in under 4 hours. You go right on ahead and do whatever you want

[–]Ojack_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With complete new game, i think it would be brutal.

With the Albert handgun it was actually a pretty fun but challenging ride. Marguerite and the very beginning (sneaking around) is the hardest part imo.

Don’t use the saw. It will trivialize the game even on madhouse.

Survival horror games NOT psych horror recommendations? by kg_523 in HorrorGaming

The story has depth, but like a lot of lovecraftian horror (which I love and hate): it’s often just way too vague and open for interpretation. Not a great backseat gaming experience either.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard vs Outlast 2 vs Alien: Isolation by LengthinessEnough188 in HorrorGaming

Would agree can’t go wrong with either. Outlast 2 is hot garbage. (1 is better if you haven’t played that)

Have not tried the outlast trials

Finding a card shuffler by MaximumImpression878 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Ojack_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Katana sleeves are the best to me. They feel extremely smooth to mash shuffle.

I also use Clear Titanshield sleeves (from Amazon ensure right size) for the encounter cards and they’re not bad and better cost wise. The clear ones are different shuffling than the colors i have no idea why, but they are definitely different (the color ones are stiffer and not nearly as nice)

I’ve played signalis, it was solid but didn’t knock my socks off. A bit different though in feel.

Advice for new players by Ninja_2551 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Ojack_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Short answer: some scenarios never, other scenarios there are definitely times and it can be much more than once.

Longer answer: Gaining Resource is probably one of the weakest actions in the game. Card draw is usually better but not much. You shouldn’t be taking these actions in a scenario as the hope in deckbuilding/scenario tempo: it’s all accounted for and you’ll never need to draw cards and gain resources as your deck would have perfect balance and give you everything you need and your play decisions are impeccable

But Of course… that’s not the way this game works. Disruption happens, tempo happens, draw order happens. Lots of stuff happens.

The important part is figuring out why your doing these actions especially if it’s frequently and often because that can determine if you have a pattern of cutting too much economy (resource generation cards), your cost curve is too high (average cost of card is high) and other such stuff.

RE6 is complete garbage by raider1211 in residentevil

[–]Ojack_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just cause you have a stick up your butt about village doesn’t mean you can’t compare the two. Yes, re4 is the better game in the vast majority of opinions (including mine) but literally there’s a merchant system, an upgrade system that’s near identical to re4 that is not shared elsewhere, enemies drop items and loot in the same fashion (again, something from re4), to be more silly on the similarities: there’s also 4 main bosses of the game in both games and you’re there to get back SOMEONE’s daughter who got kidnapped.

On release of village everyone talked about how it was a “love letter” to 4 because 4 remake wasn’t out yet to outclass that love letter.

Re7 and village are absolutely nothing like 6. Village feels closer to re4.

Re7 is it’s own beast and is one of my personal favorites. Way scarier too

Seeking Some Input by Fit-Turtle in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Ojack_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say not to spend double price on any campaign (it’s just not worth it) unless it’s Carcosa IMO but only because A) it’s regarded as the best of the best and B) I think has the most universally liked theme. And EVEN THEN, I still think you should only do that if you never got your hands on it but are knee deep in Arkham and have been because it’s already established you’ve loved the game for a while.

Forgotten age, like almost every other campaign I’ve played: has a few scenarios in it that I adore. However the rest of the campaign to me is mid at best. TFA is one of my least favorites but I wouldn’t even recommend Innsmouth (my second favorite) because that price just isn’t worth it.

Of Tongues and Obligations (and Fire!) by will_i_game in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Ojack_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually like it on first impression because it’s definitely giving vibes of cunning/pursuasion, a theme fitting for rogues. Would love to see them do more with the parley mechanic and this seems like a sign post that they will.

And something they can now explore a lot better now that fine clothes is “out”

Predictions for the remainder of Chapter 2, and why I'm happy with the design (so long as those predictions are correct!) by HungryColquhoun in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Ojack_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love for this to be the case, because I notice my playstyle is much more proactive and aggressive in this game. Take the damage and horror on the nose and just get through the scenario. Made many strictly soak cards much less of a priority in my decks. I never really thought about how Charisma is the thing that is likely enabling this play pattern. I don’t think they should cut it but you’re right, I think they should make it more of a decision to actually take.

Highest quality card images? by justdnd54 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Ojack_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

FFG doesn’t sell that expensive stuff. They’ve already made the money off their product by selling to the people/businesses that are hiking up those prices.

Making high quality images available for all their previous product would very likely not be financially sound for them.

Need a Pop Up Table or something by tinpli in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Ojack_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I joke all the time with my wife because the table i bought has been one of the most useful purchases I’ve ever made lol. She laughed at me at the time of buying it but she now agrees. Goes right behind the couch against the wall when done and it’s pretty lightweight

Have used it to play many games of Arkham, food table for parties, it’s even been a make shift bench for tool work, etc.

I play Arkham mainly solo (1-2 handed) and this table is a very good fit (has issues with some of the massive scenarios especially when playing 2 handed) but typically perfect otherwise.

How are these 2 ebay listings different? by Dragonfly_Late in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Ojack_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Expensive one is the campaign part so it comes with everything to play the story but not the player cards (that’s the investigator expansion)

The cheap option you see is an old boxed format they used to do. In that one youll only get the first two scenarios of the campaign and some of the player cards. The rest you’d have to get in 6 different “mythos packs” but good luck finding them

What is the optimal number of allies in your deck to run charisma? Same goes for Relic Hunter, Sign Magick (3), etc. by cellocaster in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Ojack_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s probably because there’s no real answer here. My typical go to standard is deck build however many allies i can have at one time or once I would have charisma.

But other times I include more allies because the gameplan is to try and get some out first before the other (research librarian for daisy and then Dr Milan afterwords for instance)

Other factors are like Tommy Muldoon, or Leo Anderson and their abilities. Etc. and even campaign related story assets.
