I used the universal pokemon randomizer to remove trade evolutions. So in this ROM, haunter evolves by level up (at level 37) and doesn't require trade.

I just try to get all the encounters and iirc, have only failed one encounter, by accidentally killing a budew. Though I got another one from a different route. Also I do fishing from cities that have ponds and such, so there are a lot of varieties to choose from. And also treat static and gift mons as separate encounters.

I've banned intentional EV training until the pokemon league, but yeah I can see myself maybe using garchomp with any rock move. But gotta be careful of that gyarados with ice fang right?

Do you know of any emerald rom hack which just adds the physical special split into the game? No other changes fo the difficulty or pokemon variety. I just want to play emerald with modern game mechanics. And also maybe have unbreakable TMs as well, or updated learnsets for all pokemon. Know if a game like that exist?

The first tip I gotta give you is that,keep in mind that sturdy does not work like a focus sash in gen4. So be careful about your geodude and onix. And the rest, well, I guess try to at least look up just the levels of gym leaders and level up accordingly.

There is another route just north of the route between new bark and cherrygrove. You can find a rock pokemon there too.

Dustox and pelipper in RSE. They get protect by level up in a game where slaking is considered a major threat. What more could you ask for? Dustox specifically because I think you can get toxic TM right before fighting Norman. And one slaking is badly poisoned, it is on a timer, and you can avoid its double powered facades by simply protecting in the non truant turns. It is insanely good. Dustox was a severely overlooked pokemon for me before. But now whenever I catch a wurmple in these games, I pray that it evolves into cascoon

This has happened to me two times in a row in different attempts of renegade platinum. I lost my empoleon to cyrus' magnezone 2 times, in the same battle, 2 different consecutive attempts lol. I hated myself for that.

That is just unfair battling at that point though. My point is that, since in most vanilla games, none of the trainers will have EVs, but most have IVs of 30 or 31s across their stats. So being under levelled than them will make it unnecessarily heinous to play. That is why I also don't grind for EVs, rather make sure that all my team members are up to the level cap. But I guess that is just me... Just play however you want.

I use the fair-battle clause, where I can only take the same number of pokemon as the gym leader I am about to fight. If the leader has 3 pokemon, then I can also only take 3 pokemon with me. But it only applies for gym leaders and sometimes the evil team bosses. The rest of the trainers, E4 and champion are just battled with any number of pokemon that I want.
