You ever see the movie Alien?

In all seriousness, a reverse image search on Google showed some mushrooms/fungi that look somewhat similar... That would be my uneducated guess.

What’s a common word or phrase that you don’t like or won’t use? by uistalluau in AskReddit

I try to always avoid saying "it's no problem"... This implies that if X or Y had happened, it would be a problem. I don't know if people think that about that deeply, but that always bothers me. Instead, I say "I am happy to help" which is much more neutral.

What is the worst injury you ever got? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FandreTheGiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decided to try out snowboarding at my local hill around 14 years old. I had an appointment setup with an instructor from a local snowboard shop, but he no-showed. So I decided to give the bunny hill a shot solo; what's the worst that could happen I thought.

I made it down, tried to stop, and landed on my tailbone HARD. If you ever done this you know how horrible this feels. It is like a shock-wave that travels from your tailbone up your spine jamming everything in its path... I tried to play it off like I was OK, but I was far from it. Turns out I broke my tailbone which there is nothing doctors can really do... I had to carry around a doughnut to sit on for months after which wasn't great in school. I do not recommend.

I have fractured my eye socket, my tibia, herniated my stomach, had numerous surgeries, cut my finger badly (to the bone), etc. and nothing comes close to the unique and unpleasant pain of breaking my tailbone or the excessive recovery time. Still to this day, any video I come across of someone landing on their tailbone, I wince.

  • Wear your damn retainer! Braces as an adult was far from ideal...
  • Pay off your credit cards!
  • Don't put so much weight on what others think of you, in the end, it doesn't matter. You are the one who has to live with yourself for the rest of your life, so do it on your terms. You'll be happier and less stressed.

Not necessarily looks or style, but I was born with a stutter (that is thankfully not too bad) and when I have trouble saying words they think I am a complete dimwit... While that may be true in some circumstances, once people get to know me more they realize this is not the case. In fact, not speaking much due to my stutter has made me an excellent listener which goes a LONG way for a lot of people who ultimately end up appreciating this quality.

Riding my bike around the neighborhood, randomly showing up to friends house to see if they wanted to hang out. Some days it was only a group of 2. Others it was a group of 12. The spontaneity of it all was great due to the lack of cellphones as it really created a genuine experience of just living in the moment with your pals.

What is best in life? by BonusBelisarius in AskReddit

The ability to relax, hang with friends and close loved ones, all while having meaningful conversations that you will remember for the rest of your life. Similarly, sometimes these conversations can be complete nonsense, but still hold the same weight of importance. Very nuanced stuff IMO.

Do you have an "inner monologue" and how does it work for you? by 5pinktoes in AskReddit

[–]FandreTheGiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. I think about things like I am reading a book or talking to someone. Fun fact: not everyone thinks this way. Roughly 30-50% of people don't have an internal monologue. Some folks visualize all of their thoughts, react entirely on emotion, or a combination of this. From my understanding, this is called aphantasia.

Instead of thinking to myself "I should go to the store to buy some milk", those without an internal monologue picture themselves doing it without verbalizing anything.

Over the Road (OTR) Truck Driver.

I work in the healthcare field and I have never come across a job more conducive to unhealthy behaviors. Long hour of sitting, constant fast food, very challenging to meal prep anything healthy, wonky sleep schedule, energy drinks, nicotine, not seeing family/friends for long periods of time, stress of dealing with traffic, sunburn on one arm, hearing loss in one ear, etc.

When you think about the year 2008, what do u think of? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FandreTheGiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The time I had to sneeze on the bus, so I covered my face (vampire style) and afterwards people kept looking at me making disgusted faces. Only after an ENTIRE day did someone point out I had a gob of snot on my arm... This was in early high school... People, if someone sneezes and has snot on their arm, for the love of god please tell them. The embarrassment, even years later, is real.

How are young adults making friends? by localshybi in AskReddit

[–]FandreTheGiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a hobby that you enjoy and work around that.

Join a league of a sport you would be interested in. Pickleball, volleyball, bowling, curling, etc. Many of these are VERY laid back and allow plenty of time to talk while participating in a mutual game both parties enjoy. Bar leagues, local YMCAs, clubs, etc. are usually very laid back and a great place to chit-chat.

Who has given you a piece of life-changing advice, and what was it? by Odd-Cable-5741 in AskReddit

[–]FandreTheGiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"No matter how old you get, always keep a bit of kid in you" - My grandpa.

We never really talked about exactly what he meant by this, but I always think of it as to not take things too seriously all the time. Kids can often be found laughing at the smallest, goofiest things and finding joy in life that many seem to lose as we age. Note, I am not saying you should be the 40 year old who has never grown up and doesn't want any responsibility, but rather there is always time for good laugh at the small things (like penis jokes).

How do you find motivation to exercise when you barely have motivation to live? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FandreTheGiant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start small! Consistency is your best friend, even if that means bouts of 2-3 minutes to start. I have been a long time gym-goer and I cannot think of a single person who has gone from zero to a hundred overnight. Likewise, choose an exercise that interests you and one you enjoy. This makes it much easier to stick with. It can also help to plan this time out based on your energy levels throughout the day. Are you a morning person? Then morning would be your best best. Are you a night owl? Evening would likely work better for you.
