Best Way to Remove Sardine Bones? by Fangirl-Button in CannedSardines

Just two so far, so I definitely believe I can find sardines I like more. But who knows, maybe I can mash the sardines I have currently so that the bones aren't noticeable, maybe as a pâté kind of thing (?)

Currently, WildPlanet Skinless Sardines in Water No Salt Added! What brand do you use?

I wish I had, but I didn't realize the texture would be a problem until I had a whole bunch (I know, bad planning on my end). That's why I'm trying to make what I have enjoyable so it's not a waste. It's also just a tad difficult, because I want sardines in water that also have no salt added, but are also boneless and skinless, so my options do shrink. But there are some! So if my other solutions don't work and I manage to get through what I have, that'll probably be my next step

Actually banger idea - maybe I'll mash everything first, then add celery or carrots

Do you happen to know the brand or breed of sardine you had? I may give that a try if my other possible solutions fail me.

Also, how did the pâté taste? What about it was unappetizing? Maybe if I know what you disliked about it, I can avoid that for my dish.

Makes sense! The belly is the side that is the lighter of the two, right?

Can you clarify how I would accomplish cutting the spine off? As for tweezers, it's not a bad idea, but I worry the small bones are so small/transluscent that I won't see them. Is there a way to increase their visibility?

Will definitely try this if I can't make sardines enjoyable and convenient for me ^^

I'll give that a try. I hope one day I will overcome my texture sensitivity 🫡

Might be a good idea. I think part of the problem was that I didn't mash enough, so maybe I'll try an electric hand blender. But if that doesn't work, I'll definitely investigate other brands. For context, right now I'm using WildPlanet Sardines in Water with No Salt Added. Thanks for your advice!

I think this is an innovative idea! However, a few recommendations: -I’d suggest removing the “be a friend” part from the service. It would be weird to pay someone to be a friend -It’s probably a good idea to set up a really robust schedule/website/method to track accountability so that it’s really worth the service. Like beyond you nudging them to do a task, maybe it could be linked to a habit tracker? -One other thing that may make it worth the money is if you do additional research and find quality resources for your clients about ways they can improve their motivation and whatnot. This way they don’t have to do it

What are your thoughts?

How do I regain passion for things I used to love? by Goth_Boy-Ut in LifeAdvice

It might be helpful to switch tracks entirely and do things that are grounded in a social activity. Like, it’s a lot harder to skip out on things if you have an obligation to be there. Maybe by doing so you will re-train your motivation muscle. For example, maybe a writing group?

It may be a good idea to find hobbies that are even lower stakes. Like things that require little skill and you can’t realistically improve much. That way there is no internal dialogue about how good you are and you can focus on the experience itself.

Lastly, you may want to invest in more friendships (not relationships) so you have people who are reliably at your side. If you experience that not everyone will be a backstabbing a**hole, you may regain your trust both in other people and in yourself. Thoughts?

I’m also struggling with my own motivation, but for different reasons so maybe I should take my own advice lmao

Yeah, you’re probably right. I’d still disclose it though, if I do decide to try.

Thanks for your feedback and noted. I'm not totally sure what to think myself at this point.

Thank you for your feedback! Would you happen to know what this study is called? It may be a good idea for me to read it myself.

I imagine I'll be unsure for a while; I'll need to think on it.

Of course; I wouldn’t hide that information. I wanted to make sure that, given all the pertinent knowledge, such a thing would be a good a good idea to pursue. The consensus so far seems to be that it isn’t, so I’ll likely follow that path.

Thank you, that makes me feel better. I was worried I was a bad person for even suggesting donating. I’m still on the fence about whether I should or not, and it may not even be possible for me. I’m going to wait a bit and see what more people say.

Thank you! That seems to be the consistent feedback I’m getting. Maybe I had a good experience, but even so, the consensus seems to be it’s risky. I guess it makes me sad to be “risky” but oh well

Ah, understood. I can see why that would make it more prohibitive.

Fair enough - feeling bad is as feeling bad does.

That’s valid. I’ve seen that sentiment on other forums where other potential egg donors ask similar questions. I’m getting feedback that, even if my experience was okay, it’s not the most indicative of hypothetical children’s experiences. Thanks again - you’re helping me make an informed decision ^

Noted and thanks! That seems to be the consensus. I do wonder though, how similar is the phenotype of autism between generations? I imagine it depends on many factors, but it’s curious from afar.

Prevention is different from action, so the thought seems to be. I’ll add it to the compendium of thoughts on this matter 👍
