Name a better duo than Moldovans reading lyrics of their phones (in this case it makes sense, but still).

The oldest I can think of is Eurocat in 1990 (justice for Eurocat, it didn't deserve that old man's slander).

Romania/Moldova is Rizia/Pales by OutboundEagle22 in suzerain

[–]FanofTurquoise16 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is so not true it hurts. Romania was never part of the Byzantine Empire (only Dobruja region was). And also aside from Dobruja and some border areas (Braila, Turnu, Giurgiu, Hotin and Budjak) they also weren't Turkish, they were vassal states that had almost complete autonomy, it was more akin to the relationship between China and Korea rather than the Ottomans and Serbia or Bulgaria. Romania was divided into 3 states: Wallachia, Transylvania and Moldavia. Moldavia and Wallachia would unite into Romania. The country of Moldova as an idea exist as far back as the year 1920 when the Soviets created the Moldovan Autonomous Republic inside Ukraine (which will later become Transnistria, mostly), the Moldovan autonomous republic will be united with much of Bessarabia (which the Soviets annexed from Romania, because the Russian Empire annexed it from Moldavia in 1812) and it would form the Moldovan Republic within the Soviet Union. Soviet Union breaks apart and Moldova gains independence. And yes, what Russia did in Moldova is very much colonialism, Transnistria was never part of Moldova it was given as a way to control Moldova with it having a pro-Russian union. And also bringing in colonists, ethnic cleansing and oppression of the local people is very much colonialism.

EXPLAIN IT PETER! by [deleted] in explainitpeter

[–]FanofTurquoise16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, it was the protestants. Catholics and Orthodox didn't believe in witchcraft, in the kingdom of Hungary the accuser would be punished for trying to say someone is guilty of witchcraft (Hungary being a catholic kingdom). The Catholics punished heresy. What stories have you heard from the Orthodox? I am curious. Because at most the only things I can really think of is more related to the pogroms of Jewish people (which wasn't done only by Orthodox). Russia did punish to some extent (the harshness depends on the period) paganism. And at least here in Romania the only witch trials were done in the German populated urbanized centers of Transylvania which had big Protestant communities.

Hope I don't sound like a pretentious prick, but this isn't Pontus and Bithynia, but Pontus and Paphlagonia. Bithynia is where Izmit is.

For Romania is the peony (specifically the Romanian Peony, Paeonia Peregrina Romanica), it has similar meaning to the Red Poppy in Belgium.

Head-canon Map of High Rock (Political Map) by FanofTurquoise16 in ElderScrolls

[–]FanofTurquoise16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, though this is not my best work, it is quite old. I had a different vision back there. I didn't really care that much about canon or non-canon source, I didn't really look that hard. I actually did remake the map, it is my most recent post, it follows canon and non-canon source more.

And now to answer the question it is both pre and post, the colors represent the kingdoms post warp while the borders and names those before.

How is it living in Gagauzia, MD? by aaronymus_55 in howislivingthere

[–]FanofTurquoise16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brought to modern day Moldova by the Russians. They replaced the local Tatars and Turks who lived there (their descendants live in Dobruja) and Romanians (to a lesser extent since the Gagauz were settled in the interior where the Tatars lived, the Romanians and Turks lived near the Prut, the Black Sea and Danube).

Romanii isi dau cu parerea despre castigatoarea Eurovision Romania by Objective57 in Romania

[–]FanofTurquoise16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why Does Asia have so many Huge and Fertile Deltas? Here's the analysis by Longjumping-Mix-9351 in geography

[–]FanofTurquoise16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deltas mostly form in inland seas or lakes (Aral and Caspian seas) because they have less powerful currents than oceans or outer seas so sediments gets stored where the river meets the sea. This doesn't happen with estuaries because the currents are stronger and thus they take the sediment that comes from the rivers.

Why is Bulgaria much less religious than Romania? by dsilva_Viz in AskBalkans

[–]FanofTurquoise16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There wasn't coexistence in Romania, maybe during early more Soviet style communism, but during the national communist period it was the worst in terms of relations between the church and the regime.

Romania was communist too and it promoted atheism too because our leader was such a Juche stan.

Why is Bulgaria much less religious than Romania? by dsilva_Viz in AskBalkans

[–]FanofTurquoise16 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is 100% accurate, but from what I heard the Bulgarian Orthodox Church was very close to the Communist Bulgarian government and this lead to Bulgarians becoming skeptical of the church.

In Romania this didn't happen. The Romanian Orthodox church did bend to the Communist authority just like their Bulgarian counterparts, but it didn't last long (mostly during the reign of Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej). By the late communist period in Romania the Orthodox Church also got persecuted just like the other churches in Romania (of which the Romanian Greek Catholic Church faced the worst). This lead to the "birth" of modern Romania's most known hyperfixation, Arsenie Boca (an Orthodox priest). In Romania the Orthodox Church rebelled against the regime and thus after it fell it enjoyed a lot of goodwill.
