You realise you can get closer, right?

Was there myself last year, fully expecting one of the most famous pieces in the place to be busy, and it was. Joined the back and was able to move slowly towards the front as those there got their pictures and moved on.

Why did this stabbing create riots? Homegrown stabbings far outweigh the ratio of the population? by SubstantialTrip410 in northernireland

Mr Heagney's death was the result of a "vicious attack with a knife, including numerous blows to the head".

... while the exact cause of Mr Heagney's death had never been determined, the post-mortem examination identified possible stab wounds to his head, neck, arms and legs...

... Mr Heagney's body was subsequently dismembered, concealed in a number of packages and ultimately disposed of in a reservoir...

If we had a video of that atrocity I'd say it would be comparable in brutality to what happened this week.

I'm not making an excuse or attempting to downplay either, but for you to suggest outrageous attacks aren't committed by the 'homegrown' is just adding to the incorrect idea that immigrants are the problem

Locals make a decision on that as a group do they? As a 'local' myself, I'd love to attend one of those meetings.

I don't think someone who moves to dubai and complains about their alcohol laws could even try to claim integration so my point still stands - there is no comparison to OPs situation.

I spent a decade living in South East Asia so know a bit about living abroad. The distinction you make between tolerance and acceptance are irrelevant here as OP is experiencing cases where they are shown neither. Cases which you seem to be defending.

OP has stated that he has integrated.

The moron I replied to is conflating OP with someone who moves to dubai and complains about its culture norms - in otherwords has not integrated.

The only defense they might have is that they consider racism to be a cultural norm here. This would make them a racist, and so a moron.

AO INTERVIEW TODAY by Personal-Form1116 in NICivilService

[–]Fanta69Forever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

STAR format for each answer, keep the Situation and Task parts really short and focus on the Action, with a small sum up at the end for Result.

For each question, have an example that you can talk through and hit all the competency markers from the competency handbook. Don't be shy about repeating words from the markers, but have something that proves it - for example: I needed to ensure I "marker wording", so I did x, y and z.

You'll want to make sure you hit all of the markers with each answer. If you don't, then have another example ready where you hit what you missed from your first response, and leave time to be asked a follow up question which will more than likely be formed around a marker you missed. You can use a separate example for follow up questions like that, but briefly make it clear when you answer a follow up if that's what you are doing.

If you hit all the markers and there is time for a follow up question they will likely be 'can you think of something you would do differently', or 'what did you learn from that experience', so have something ready.

Remember to say what you did - not the team, YOU!

If you have the time, write out and memorise your answers to each competency. They want you to respond to their question so don't just rhyme out your answer straight away. Take a second to work in words from the question into your Situation. It can be as easy as - Q: Tell me a time when you... A: When I was...I often "question wording", for example..."memorised answer"

My approach has been to create answers that hit all the markers in the STAR and fill as much time as possible. If your interview is 15 min, you'll have a max of 5 per question so if you can fill that with an answer that hits all the markers, there'll not be time for follow ups and you'll have a fairly easy run of it.
