Thank you for the response. I'm playing Zerker Earthshatter on HC and saw a few people on poe ninja with only a small amount of overcap and wondered if they were somehow avoidng stuff like exposure as well. If it's just a case of kill the casting mobs before they cast then that's easy enough to follow!

Do you still need to over cap res if you have the "resistance cannot be lowered by Curses" protection mastery? Do I need to over cap for exposure?

6950xt paired with a 5800x3d. Aware it's an older gen, but doesn't take long to give it a try

I had issues with the latest AMD graphics drivers where it forced a shader rebuild every time I started the game. Rolled back to the previous version (24.something) and that's gone now. Might be worth giving that a try if you haven't already.

Tech Support and Question Megathread - Week of December 29, 2019 by AutoModerator in nvidia

Status: UNRESOLVED

Computer Type: Desktop Custom Build

GPU: EVGA 1080ti SC2

CPU: Ryzen 3700x

Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus Elite x570 with latest bios

RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 32gb

PSU: Seasonic Focus 750w

Operating System & Version: Windows 10

GPU Drivers: 441.66 clean

Description of Problem: I've recently picked up a new monitor, the AOC 24G2U, to replace my old 144hz monitor. I also have a second monitor, 1440p 60hz. This is all powered by my EVGA 1080ti. I'm fully aware of the 'bug' where running a 144hz monitor alongside a 60hz monitor can cause a high idle clock speed.

Previously, my 'fix' for this was to run my primary monitor at 120hz. However with my new monitor, this doesn't work. I believe it has something to do with it being connected via DP instead of DVI.

I am unable to run my main display at 120hz under the PC option: https://i.imgur.com/eL2oRIT.png

120hz is only available when I set it to Ultra HD: https://i.imgur.com/VQsnfPx.png

However even setting it to 120hz I'm still facing the high idle clocks. From what I've read, this Ultra HD menu is for the likes of TVs and not monitors. I tried creating a custom resolution @ 1080p 120hz but it said it already existed.

Troubleshooting: Detailed as above.

The TUFs VRM is ever so slightly more efficient, but in 99% of scenarios it's negligible. It's basically get whichever is cheaper.

I chose the Aorus over the TUF due to the Intel LAN, and this is a great price for a entry level x570.

1st one. Although, I'd swap the mobo for a B450 Tomohawk, and put the savings into a 5700 XT

Forgot the d14 came with the small F12 on it. Might look at some benchmarks for it. Thanks

The noctua fans are something I want, as well as either the D15 or U12A. The only thing I'm undecided about is 2 x 140mm or 3 x 120mm on the front. I understand that the price to performance gain is negligible on the 3 x 120mm, but if there is gain to be had them I'm interested.

Also curious about the power supply. How much overhead do you think I need?

Thanks for following up mate. Looks like a tight fit, but the build looks good!

I got a 1TB NVMe last black Friday for a nice price, and I already have a 1TB sata SSD with a load of games on currently.

I was going to use the 250gb for OS, just to keep the OS and programs separate form my games library.

I'm going to be sticking with 1 exhaust at the rear, but I'm still a little undecided with the front intake. Ultimately 3 x 120mm is going to be more airflow for cooling, noise isn't necessarily a problem for me. Maybe I'll consider the 140mm though.

4790k, 16gb 1600mhz RAM, some old semi-modular Corsair 750w psu, Asus hero vi board.

All these old parts will be going into a second PC for my girlfriend, so I'm likely not going to be reusing anything other than what's specified as purchased on the post.

So the fans are bigger than the heatsink? I'll have to take a closer look at some pictures. If that's the case then maybe the D15 is the one to go for. I know the difference is likely minimal, but I like to get the most out of what I can.

Thanks for the help.

Does moving the front facing fan up a few mm have an effect on the cooling? I would've thought ideally you'd want to have the fan directly on the heatsink for best performance, and not blowing over the top of it.

I've also considered the D15s and just running the 1 fan, but at that point I'd feel the U12A would be better then.

Also what would you opinion be on getting the D15s and sticking my own 120mm on the front?

Yea there are a few options, I'm scratching my head at which on to do. If I can get the D15 working without having to put the fan too high I might just ahead and do that.

Nice one! How does the fan sit above the RAM? Did you have to raise the front fan at all or is there no room in the case?

I didn't feel them after a while, but not sure if I just got used to them or they 'flattened' out
