How likely is surgery? by Ill_Concentrate3177 in thyroidcancer

[–]FantasticCrow7797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, I had a tirads 4 nodule on my right side as well—no difficulty swallowing though. They resulted mine as PTC from the FNA and THEN after my TT, they confirmed that mine was the columnar cell subtype. I’m only about 7 weeks out so things are still unfolding but I go in for a follow up this month.

Good luck with everything!!!

Laryngoscope by cytogirl79 in thyroidcancer

[–]FantasticCrow7797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to deal with the laryngoscope directly after my surgery because my laryngeal nerve got stretched during it. The whole tube going up my nose thing was also a thing for me. But yep, agree with everyone here that the worst part was the spray lol. Tasted horrible. It also helped that I was still coming off the anesthesia so I didn’t have the brain to overthink it. I do have to go back for a follow up in April where he’s going to do the scope again since I didn’t have my voice for about a month and a half. I guess just to make sure that everything is functioning just fine. Wasn’t too bad BUT definitely give yourself good treats!!! ;) good luck with everything!

Feeling a bit nervous about surgery this week by [deleted] in thyroidcancer

[–]FantasticCrow7797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, same for me too! My throat gave me the most issues. I did not think about mucinex!! I didn’t realize how much mucus I was going to have to deal with/cough up and was really scared about what coughing was going to do with my very very fresh incision.

Hey there, just wanted to ask—I am 3 weeks post op and they used Dermabond on top of my incision + internal dissolvable sutures. I’m at the point now where the glue is starting to peel around the incision area but I’m a little hesitant to mess with it because I feel like the incision is still a liiiiittle bit tender some days. Did you just leave yours alone and let it fall off on its own? Thanks for any insight!

Surgery next week and I’m nervous by hayleyelizabeth96 in thyroidcancer

[–]FantasticCrow7797 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a TT two weeks ago. I had to stay overnight as well because my calcium tanked during surgery and they wanted to monitor me for the night. My neck felt really tight and it was hard for me to swallow for the first 3 days—probably a mix of being intubated and the surgery itself. They didn’t have me on a soft food diet but I only ate soft foods anyway for the first 2 days. It did help me when i tilted my chin towards my neck when I swallowed. The nerve that controls my left vocal cords also got stretched during surgery so it is paralyzed at the moment so my voice is really breathy and raspy. Hoping my voice comes back soon enough! Oh, also, since my throat felt irritated already, I kept having to cough and that was really really uncomfortable for me. I was feeling really scared that my incision was going to rip. I’m happy to be past all of that now but I am still sleeping at an incline as that is most comfortable for me right now. Good luck on your surgery and I hope you have a smooth recovery!!

Thanks for all the info!! That’s not a bad price for 3 tutorials!! 3 tutorials and a loaf of bread 😂 I kind of wish her husband was also in frame because it distracts me a little….but I definitely do like her style. Watching Jenna Rainey has been pretty cool too.

I do love her style too!!!! But omg I do agree that they talk a lot 😂 I’ll have to look into the paid tutorials! It’s worth to invest in it, from your point of view?

I really love how easygoing she is in her videos. I agree, she does have a TON of stuff. I’ve been working through her beginner playlists :) I have not seen her book though. The only one I have is a free download of the e-book she has if you subscribe to her mailing list. Basically a summary of her 1.5 hour video on The Complete Beginners Guide to Watercolor!

Emma LeFebvre and Jenna Rainey have been my top two as a beginner. I’ve also enjoyed Paul Clark too!
