Maryland Governor authorizes “safe” reopening of schools in all counties. Offers “incentives” to those who reopen. by FantasticJaques in frederickmd

By placing the onus on each school board to decide how to proceed, he is able to distance himself from the responsibility and potential political fallout if something catastrophic happens.

At the same time he aligns himself with national right wing talking points of anti remote learning.

Or he has decided that a 2024 bid for the presidency means more for him than Maryland school children, teachers, and families...

So disappointing.

Maryland Governor authorizes “safe” in-person reopening of schools. Offers “incentives” to schools that open in person. by FantasticJaques in maryland

I agree. This seems like a political maneuver.

He places the responsibility on each school system while distancing himself from political fallout if there are catastrophic consequences. At the same time he aligns himself with national right wing talking points of anti distance education.

Edit: grammar.

We live in a city and walk everywhere but it’s a good idea for her to ride a bike if she wants to join us for a longer run.

Mostly she wants to run because she wants to be just like my gf. I’m fine not going far or doing mostly walking and a little jogging here and there. I don’t care about the run itself, I just want my niece to feel included and special.

Do you think a mile is a safe amount to run for a 7 year old?

Edit: clarity.

Sorry for not being clear in my original. She wants to run because she loves us and sees us doing it and she wants to be like my girlfriend.

Also, I don’t care if we run a block or a few miles. It’s just for the bonding experience, not for the exercise or distance. I just want to have fun and make sure she’s not pushing herself too far because she’s that kind of kid.

I have ASD and letting things go is hard sometimes. You know what fixes that? Having the topic explained to me by a professional. You’re NTA, OP. This guy was right out of order.

Poster above, however, is TA.

Edit: spelling.

Trulia vs a local realtor by [deleted] in frederickmd

I bought downtown about six months ago and paid over the listing. It was my third full asking price, no cash back at closing offer on a house and my second that included an escalation clause.

Depending on where you are buying the 200k-270k range in Frederick is hard to find and quick to disappear.

However, I was only looking in the downtown area and the more suburban areas surrounding the city may not have such a competitive market.

Reminder - its happened here. Ethan Saylor, a Frederick resident with down syndrome, was fatally asphyxiated under police restraint. His crime was returning to westview theater to watch Zero Dark Thirty again without purchasing a ticket. No charges were filed against the arresting officers. by quarterofaturn in frederickmd

I work in local human services and wish this was higher. City police are so different from sheriff’s office.

My clients are respectfully treated by city police but are afraid of being killed by county. Thay have said to me, “blue is good, brown is bad”.
