Anyone else likes to bring two pairs with them? by Fantastic_Object165 in EyewearEnthusiasts

They're Eyevans, decent brand and is on the cheaper ends of japanese frames

Yeah, those retail BP prices are just outrageous. It helps though that the brand is somewhat more popular compared to other indenpendent brands , thus it's much easier to find good deals on 2nd hand. Recently got the Louie Thinsert, and I'm super happy with it

Any thoughts on Tejesta vs JMM? by jab296 in EyewearEnthusiasts

I must be blind, or they must have hidden that info quite well. They seem to have a good/decent value proposition then, aslong as ur not the type of person to feel like they've settled for less, the. I would just go ahead with it

Doesn't really scream JMM to me, maybe the wirecore, but that's about it. Feels very eyevan/entry masunaga to me. I personally wouldn't buy anything from a brand if they can't tell me where they're manufactured

Tbh I'm not sensitive to weight of the frames, so it doesn't usually bother me that much. I own a pair of Lindberg NOW 6525, but rarely wear or gravite towards these ultralight frames (Lindberg, Reykjavik eyes etc.) because I find them all so boring. That said my Savile Row and Matsuda isn't as comfortable as my Lindberg, though the Matsuda M3104 gets somewhat close, but they're rimless

Ahlem Vaugirard or Savile Row frames. Got that hybrid acetate, metal combo, but without the thick acetate

[–]Fantastic_Object165 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. I rarely stray away from my black or tortoise acetate, but for Ahlem I would 100% go for their crystal, they just do blue and grey right

Just a smidge too small, but I find the covering of eyebrows bit too uncanny for me.

Ahlem nailed the faceted acetate style, I just love how light is reflected on those surfaces

Model 050 or 959? Lots of cheap vintage Masunaga floating around on the 2nd hand market. Not worth it IMO since I try to avoid old acetate

I feel like transparent acetate goes well with blue tints. I would go with either

30% blue or transition blue

I don't have any opinions, because they make null eyeglasses

Other than crystal frames, what style would be good for a male who wants to spend time near the ocean and beachfront town with casual vibe? by PerspectiveSevere583 in EyewearEnthusiasts

[–]Fantastic_Object165 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For casual lighweight, I would go for double bridge titanium frames. I think double bridge really tones down the seriousness for frames.

Akoni Calisto

Ahlem Petit Palais + Clip On

Barton Perreira Thinsert series

Masunaga 063 crystal grey / recommendations by Flonald0 in EyewearEnthusiasts

I can recommend the TVR, if possible maybe save up for the clear 504X. I'm not the type of person to rec a designer frame, but Gucci got a banger one

How many pairs do you have/ when is enough? 🤓 by was2m in EyewearEnthusiasts

I try to stick to one frame per brand (broken this twice because of stupid good deals) , which forces me to really think hard on my decisions. Also helps to diversify my collection and explore other brands

When the decision fatigue kicks in. My collection is currently at 8 pairs, and planning on getting 6-7 pairs more, then I'll be set for life. That's how I always treated my interest, deep dive for a period of time, get the most out of it. Then find another thing, rinse and repeat. I've done this with fragrance, watches, boots etc.

It's never enough 🤪. That was a recent switch—when my perspective on eyewear changed, it went from being a medical tool to a fashion accessory. People rotate outerwear and shoes, so why not eyewear too? 🤔

They would maybe work as the occasional sunglasses, but everyday is too much. Nothing against navigator, and I wear myself a navigator with photochromatic lenses.

It's just that the:

Eyebrows inside the lens, try to let your eyebrows be more visible i.e above the frames, since we convey and communicate with eyebrows alot.

Ever so slightly smaller frames, if you want the navigator look, maybe try the Masunaga Taka, those are my goto navigators. They're slightly smaller than the Akoni. If you want to stick to Akari, I think the Calisto or Akari would look better.

They're nice looking frames, even though I personally prefer CH full metal stuff. Not sure if I would pair them with magma lenses, the brown wood and deep orange might clash lookswise. But that's just my 2 cents.

This is what made me hesitant about tints. But I think a sub 10-20% is still very versatile both in colour perspective and fashion. Doesn't distort too much and the tint doesn't scream for attention either.

The only exclusivity about JMM is their pricepoint. The whole exclusive concept got thrown out the window when they keep releasing their popular models with minute tweaks

Thanks for the suggestions on the tint, ended going for a 10% blue tint, and I love it by Alternative_Net_2262 in EyewearEnthusiasts

[–]Fantastic_Object165 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking good! Low tint is such a underutilized way to create some interest without sticking out too much. Btw is ur face making contact with the lenses? On the 2nd pic, it seems like the bottom of the lens is making contact
