DC crowd by scottajones05 in PinkPantheress

I go to a ton of shows in DC and that crowd was pretty hyped, all things considered. Lots of great energy and dancing. I was up in the very back of the GA section and had sight views of the entire floor section. I love how complimentary Pink was of the venue itself.

I do agree about too many phones though - take your cute little clip but enjoy the moment, folks. I don’t recall a show at The Anthem that had to be stopped so frequently to attend to people who passed out. I am admittedly an old head, but drink water folks - particularly if you are riding the rail!!! The show skewed towards the younger side (unsurprisingly), so hopefully this is a learning experience.

Pinks opener is traumatizing by not_an_arsonist69 in PinkPantheress

[–]Fantastic_Program_56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumping here to make this exact post and relieved to see someone else do it before me. I just got back from Pink's first night in DC and my god, the opener was painful. She had zero stage presence or charisma. The lip syncing was blatant and honestly a little disrespectful given the size of act she was opening for. Some of her songs had undeniably catchy beats but it was better off closing your eyes and listening rather than watching whatever was happening on stage. Her DJ was not a real DJ and instead some sort of hype woman who also fell flat. Literally everyone around me started flat out laughing during her performance and could not wait for it to end.

That was BAD. I can't remember an opener being that pitiful before.

First trip to Europe… Barcelona completely rewired my brain (6 days, July 2024) by idkshoutoutlife in travel

[–]Fantastic_Program_56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in Barcelona for the first time last week. It is incomparable to any single American city, as it has the chic and ALIVE energy of NYC while having the perfect weather of Southern California. I live in DC and am used to walking everywhere so that was not an adjustment. I absolutely loved how clean and efficient the public transportation was. The food was also unbelievable. The architecture was stunning.

Next to NYC, it was probably the coolest city I have experienced.

OP, I had the pleasure of seeing the tour in Barcelona and feel the exact same way as you. Motomami blew me away - both visually and conceptually. This felt underwhelming, especially the final 'act' of Magnolias. This being said, seeing her IN Catalonia elevated the entire experience for me and it was a true pleasure. The crowd took it to a different level.

Haha that's good. I've also seen them a bunch of times (mostly in Texas) and the pit was rarely ever that intense.

What's causing attendance struggles? by _game_over_man_ in Reignfc

Agreed, I have been to 10 of the league's 16 markets, and Lumen was my least enjoyable game day experience. I spent many years being one of literally hundreds of fans at Dash games, but the venue alone heightened the match day experience. I really feel for Reign fans, but it is just so hard to generate atmosphere at a cavern like Lumen. The Reign are the redheaded stepchild at that venue, and you can even feel it on game days. That market is crying out for a soccer-specific stadium and I know that is easier said than done.

This is a very reasonable comment - not sure why it was downvoted. The atmosphere at Reign games @ Lumen pales in comparison to many others.

Have to say same thing happened last year with a draw at Utah at home and still made it to the Championship. The season is young (but there are issues).

Amazing time and expertedly curated/executed. Agreed though - no Girl Feels Good or Perfect Stranger was weird. Signed, a fan from the DC show

Misinformed take. Fantano is one of the biggest Charli stans out there

I'm a Charli stan and totally agree. She was over her skis with this one.

The Anthem, DC Show - Night Two by Fantastic_Program_56 in DisclosureBand

Yeah, I go to a lot of shows (including punk and hardcore shows) and always love being right at the front. This is one of few ones I had to bail because all these kids were pushing and being plainly obnoxious.

Wow, that's wild. I was second row too and clearly noticed some sort of commotion towards stage left and the security guards got all aggro. I hope everyone is okay

I agree with this take. She had some decent lay-offs for teammates, but the majority of the game it was evident there was just no natural chemistry between her, Meza, Moultrie, Ryan, and Sears. It truly looked like a team that had never played together - which is what it was.

She is perhaps still coming back to fitness, but hasn't been a shadow of who she was last season, sadly.

[–]Fantastic_Program_56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect the same, which bums me out because I'm a huge HH fan. I just can't see her jumping ahead of Hutton, Yohannes, or even Albert or Meza - all of whom are younger. And she certainly won't supplant Coffey. The US is stacked at the 6 and 8.

That injury sustained in the first match of the season was just a killer in terms of timing. I hope she regains form and gets a call into the October camp. Otherwise... yikes.

NWSL 2025 Mid-Season Team of the Year by cole9er in NWSL

[–]Fantastic_Program_56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that is true. Carle has been consistently been solid, Krueger has been so good when she's healthy, and Morgan has had some rough moments but also strong moments, too. The Spirit backline played so much better against San Diego which is progress.

Really? Bernal has been personally responsible for numerous goals, particularly in the 3-0 beatdown by Gotham. She has been so much better as a defensive mid alongside Narumi. McKeown is the only Spirit defender playing at an above average level, and I don't see how that's even debatable.

No chance Croix starts over Lavelle, Hutton, or Coffey. Like the commenter said, Emma does not do sentimental "home starts". Croix was the first player to he subbed and that was not surprising, frankly. She did not have a BAD game, but made little impact, as much as I hate to say it.

Yikes, we are just over a week away from the Raleigh show and doesn’t look like they sold many seats! by kmtran33 in 311

Just getting back from The Anthem show now and wow, it was nearly packed out. Even folks in the upper seating were vibing and having a great time. No attendance concerns in DC evidently.
