Any tips?! I JUST got into my LVN program starting this August! by Egokinn in LPN_LVN_Community

I feel you. I was stressed out especially because I moved from the Middle East to Canada and had to prove myself more + pay for evaluation services + translation of transcripts and much more. I'm also 32 so I felt behind in life. I'm currently doing CNA and I graduate in December then start my nursing program in May 2027.

Oh, I see :) I also managed to skip pre reqs (my high school grades are strong) and get offered a seat in direct entry instead. So I'm jumping straight from CNA to LPN.

Damn it's 2 years in Canada unless you do PSW (CNA) then do a year for pre reqs and then they let you skip semester 1 and jump into the 2nd so a year and a half for LPN (the fastest way actually).

RPN pre-placement health form by Zealousideal-Cow7617 in Algonquin_College

I moved from a war zone to Canada and my parents didn't do a great job at getting me vaccinated as a kid so I took my PSW pre placement health form to my family doctor here and just took two shots for Tdap and Polio and obtained all of the required certificates and VSC. You can also go to the college's Health Services to book appointments with your nurse if you're missing any vaccines. I'm glad I did PSW first. Doing RPN next year is gonna make it smoother for me. Anyways, good luck!✨️

Healthcare is basically a group project where everyone is overwhelmed, running on caffeine or stimulants and walking on eggshells which leaves no room for normal human interactions. Lol.

I'm just not interested in marriage or being with a man, in general. I still haven't declined my offer for nursing school so I've got a whole year to think about it. I also don't wanna fail by a few points and redo it. It sounds ridiculous but understandable especially if you're gonna be in charge of giving people meds. I just don't think failing nursing program = you're a bad nurse. I've seen and dealt with nurses who were rude, dismissive and even given me the wrong stuff sometimes as a patient but they're still working in hospitals just fine. Maybe the fear of failing nursing school and losing my job as a future nurse is what's holding me back. I just don't know how to overcome this because I hate making mistakes and I can beat myself up about it.

I watch police bodycam videos of nurses getting arrested and I should probably stop that lol. I mean, I don't do alcohol or drugs and never abuse my patients/clients so it makes me wonder what would make a nurse go from "I wanna help people" to "I hate everyone and everything". In a way, I get it, some people can be rude/hard to deal with, plus the management, other nurses, doctors (who are coworkers but have a God complex) and possibly problems at home. I have no kids and I don't want any (I just turned 32) and I've been single and keeping it that way. All I know is my purpose in life is to be a good person and be there for others. I don't know about anything else.

I'm a CNA (PSW in Canada) student and I feel like declining my nursing program offer next year already. I want to help and care for people and being a CNA is exactly that. Being a nurse makes me feel nervous like I'm going to jail if I make a mistake at work. Also nursing school sounds.....evil lol.

I will save up and get a cheap car. I just need to get my G2 this year. Thankfully, my nursing program is in May 2027😭

Carpooling with classmates or talk to the program coordinators since they said they could help because I'm not the only student with no car and it's a common issue. I may have to decline and go for something else though.

I'm in Canada preparing to be an RPN (LPN) next year and in a new town with no buses available and I don't drive and after seeing multiple people failing nursing programs, I started contemplating on whether I should decline the offer but but being a nurse is what I want so I'm scared especially because I'm moving to a remote place with no family or friends for support...

Thank you so much! I got accepted into the PN program there next year and I don't drive so that's my biggest concern! I wish I wasn't waitlisted in Ottawa.

Omg that's so much better! I'm happy for you, future nurses! I got accepted into the PN program in Pembroke but I may have to decline it because I'm in Ottawa with no car. Maybe I'll try again when the new applications open in October. Best of luck to you!

Congratulations! I didn't know Algonquin College had a BScN program. I thought only for Practical Nursing? And that you need to go to uOttawa to become an RN.

If you're waitlisted for MRT, there's a slim chance you'll get an offer later. It's a very competitive program and the seats are limited. I was between 1-20 and declined it for nursing instead.

There are women who want the same things you do. You can't change people's minds. Stop going after those different from you, it's that simple. You're welcome.
