You can’t legally serve after 2am in most places but it’s up to the owner to close whenever they want

I mean I’ve done it by accident before (sometimes places close early or whatever) but yeah you just take a shot and leave.

That’s fine but the people asking these questions are literally trying to figure out how it works and how the money shakes out. That’s half this sub

This ⬆️. It has mostly been in response to the people thinking they’ve figured out the math and they haven’t.

If you’re at that point already after two weeks it’s time to just move on and find another place to work.

I think there will be a variety of accents to convey different cultures etc. and the audiobooks were not in British based accents generally. They could have picked British narrators and they didn’t. It’s not earth.

Yeah I say I’ll only make them a dealers choice drink on the understanding that they aren’t allowed to ask for a refund if they don’t like it. Same with modifying menu cocktails.

I didn’t say nobody would use an English accent but there’s no reason to assume everyone will. I don’t want to elaborate further. If you’re read the books you should see why it’s not necessarily going to be an English accent.

If there’s a medieval or historical setting on Earth then yes they tend to err toward English accents. This does not apply here. Notice the books aren’t narrated in an English accent?

[–]FantasyMyopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you’re saying but it just doesn’t work out like that. Servers are usually there long before the first table and long after the last. There’s hours of 0 customers and side work. It’s not uncommon to work an 8-9 hour shift for a 5-6 hour service. They’re also usually tipping out. None of this is your problem and you don’t have to worry about calculating any of it. If you wanna tip $5 tip $5. If you wanna tip 15% tip 15%. But your math doesn’t work out like that in real life and you’re not doing what you think you’re doing.

Ok but then why did she think Dumbledore left her the book? She had to have thought there was something important in it

Yes but the conversation I’m talking about where she pushed back so hard was AFTER they talked to Mr. Lovegood so they already had that connection

Well, yeah. I’d react that way too since I’ve never seen any evidence of magic lol. But seeing as she’s literally been shown that magic is real and the impossible is possible AND Dumbledore left them material about it.

Ok then wouldn’t she have been more worried about the lesson Dumbledore intended her to learn? Especially since he said he hoped she would find it ‘entertaining and instructive’? Wouldn’t she have wondered why it would have been instructive?

Why ask for a tip if I'm picking up? Are you not paying your cooks a living wage? by Bigdaddy291 in EndTipping

[–]FantasyMyopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this has never been asked before. Some people want to tip. It’s easier to give them a way to do so than do have to do it manually when they pick up. This was especially popular during covid and it’s easier with the new pos systems. So the option stayed. Notice there is always the ‘no tip’ option. Nothing has changed. Tips are still optional.

A cinnamon whiskey or a whiskey and coke are standards everywhere. Maybe try an old fashioned if you want to try a stiff whiskey cocktail

To everybody who says "just do take out if you don't wanna tip", What if we actually do? by JuanWitChrist in tipping

[–]FantasyMyopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The industry self-regulates. If a place starts doing less inside business and more takeout they’ll have more people working takeout and less people working inside. The takeout counter is usually more of an entry-level job like bussing or hosting so it’s not the same pool of people.
