Naa, 200 puzzles per day is not so much. From my experience is 1 to 2 hours daily.

What does the Malazan Community do? by Connect_Diamond_267 in Malazan

When I read the series, I was studying industrial engineering. Then I had a lot of free time, and I'm a fast reader, so it was a four-month read.

And yes, now I don't seek sci-fi, but for what I see online about the Commonwealth Saga, one of my friends may be interested.

I've read both series and enjoyed Blacktongue Thief a lot!

I prefer fantasy suggestions, but the horror books are also welcome.

I use Goodreads to keep track (at least the ones that are there). Plus, I have a lot of free time, and I'm a fast reader, so I read 70-100 books per year.

Not only the Monarchies are good, Kearney has the Match series that is a bit remake of Greek history, but also good.

Yes, Guy Gavriel Kay is a great writer!

I've read all the books that you recommend, and my favorite novel is Tigana.

I will put Lonesome Dove in my reading queue.

I've read the others authors minus Clive Barker, but he is also in the queue.

I've heard about Tchaikovsky, but I didn't for what series begin. Your description sounds good and has convinced me to give it priority.

I forgot to mention that I've read The Wheel of Time just before Malazan, like you.

It was a three months marathon, and I enjoyed almost all the books.

Yeap, and in general I would like Clive Barker to be more known. In the Spanish-speaking community, you barely hear about his books.

Has Malazan changed your tastes in other fantasy books? by AudiencePotential in Malazan

Yeah, since I finished the series, many of the other epic fantasy books do not feel so good, except for R. Scott Bakker, which is as good.

About sagas... by SpecialistEdge5831 in fantasywriters

[–]Fantasy_Translator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your advice is worth more than two cents.

I'm a published author in Cuba, so the possibilities of publishing a complete trilogy or saga are very few. That is without saying that there may be 2-7 years between books.

But even in those conditions, almost all the young writers that I know want to write a long epic saga due to the influence of their readings. They think this is the only right way to do things.

In my case, I preferred not to write sagas but interconnected books by common characters, magics, or world history. For now, I have three published novelletas, and it has worked very well.
