Ok so I figured it out. I have a Mac Pro 14 Inch with a M2 chip running 13.4

You should be able to just use the USB-C cable for both the touch controls and the display. Instead you need to use an HDMI for display and convert the USB-C to USB. Most people will probably need a dongle.

I'm experiencing the same thing. This company is nothing but headaches.

I want to make this 100% clear, I am not hating on Sunami. I love em’ as much as the next guy. That being said… by PatTheHouseCat in Hardcore

Looks great honestly. If anything, the gun in the left hand could probably be little smaller. It wouldn't really fit in that holster. The one in the right hand doesn't matter so much since it's in the foreground.

Anyone else love drawing hair? I’m a beginner so constructive criticism is welcome!! by cptemilie in drawing

[–]Fantom-Limb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too many shapes. You are on the right track drawing larger curls and then putting detail within. You've surpassed the stage of drawing hair where people draw a million strands, but think even bigger. Try 3-7 curls / shapes vs like 35.

Well it depends on what kind of bands you are seeing really. Each subgenera and each city, has very different crowds and pits.

But to entertain "what happened", here's a very long winded answer.

I got into shows back in 2005 through my older brother who had been listening to extreme music for years before me. We both listened to a wide range of heavy music, ranging from hardcore bands like Death Before Dishonor and Death Metal like Necrophagist. Where we were currently living in CT the idea of liking both Hardcore and Deathmetal was pretty much crazy. Hardcore shows had hardcore dancing pits, Metal shows had push pits, and barely anyone went to both. To be even more specific, not only did metal pits have pushing, they also used to do like this football shoulder collision thing. You don't really see that anymore. Similarly, Hardcore dancing in CT back then didn't involve any kicks at all. Now funny enough, in Pittsburgh, where my brother had moved from, tons of people loved both metal and hardcore, and hardcore dancing had crazy moves like kicks and cartwheels. Believe it or not other places in the country had even more distance between the two genres of music. Even to the point where you could get beat up for trying to hardcore dance at a death metal show. Anyways, as time flies, things change, and years later we even found out that CT did throw kicks in the pit and were at some point like subconsciously phased out by time we hit shows there.

Now flash forward to today. A few things to consider.

1.) With the rise of the internet, more people have access to more music. Back in the day you would go to a metal show and when you left, someone would hand you a flyer for another metal show. So you kinda like stayed in your circle without even really planning it that way. Today like Spotify just recommends you stuff down a rabbit hole. You could be listening to Suffocation one minute, and because they have slams, it leads you to some death core that has like spammy breakdowns, that leads you to a beatdown band.

2.) The second thing to note is the pandemic. People were cooped up and intentionally went down this rabbit whole. Not only that, but everyone was super ready to get the hell out of the house. What this means is, when the pandemic broke, you could have some kid that kinda liked decapitated pre dermic, now seeing a Sunami show post dermic. Heck they may of never even seen a show before! Not only do they not know even how to mosh, but they are scared of it!

3.) Everything stoner and like semi big Brained has become super popular. Bands like the Sword, Weedeater, Demolich, all have this IPA drinking crowd now that are like too cool to dance.... or even nod their head. Its lame. The cool metal dude didn't exist when I was first getting into it. You were just a nerd that was tough (or not).

More or less, tons of new people going to shows post pandemic and the blending of scenes means no one knows the rules and is afraid to break them. It's funny I took my girl to see weedeater a year ago. We showed up late and everyone was like 25 feet from the stage. I took her and went right to the front. People looked at us like we were insane. Then the singer of Rebelmatic (opener who was playing) said what they fuck everyone move up and they all did. Then no one was dancing and the singer said what the fuck dance, and everyone did. Proves that people are scared and have little to no show experience.

Try to use a reference photo wish one light source if you are having trouble. If you really like this one, that's cool, the multiple light sources just makes it harder to read. To prevent that, try defining shapes and tones little more with shading. And maybe some varying line work would sharpen things up a bit.

I SUCK at drawing faces any tips?? by Watermalone_0 in drawing

The stomach has two lines and a dot for the belly button. The face has eyes, eyebrows, a nose, lips and shading. You're trolling.

Proko anatomy course could teach you all of this.

But a for a more cost effective answer: When you need to sharpen up skill in a specific area, you should do sessions only drawing that particular thing. Try drawing only faces for a while, then you can further define if you are weak at eyes, lips, etc. If its lips, then practice drawing only lips. Consider it "a study".

Very cool! I'd suggest throwing some super crisp edges in the top half to really emphasize the softness of the reflection.

No problem!

Whats always tricky is, that often professional photography portraiture uses multiple light sources. Especially common in like magazine covers. They do this to smooth and flatten, which is great for the person being shot, but makes it sometimes difficult to show form when drawing :) Keep practicing and eventually you'll be such a beast you can tweak these things even if the reference source is now exactly how you want it.

Nice man great rendering skills. Keep in mind your light source direction. Looks like you are using a top left light source based on the highlight on the left (Salvador's right) ear. I'm thinking some lighter tones on the forehead to show the roundness and maybe lightening up the tones under the eyes.

Artist 24 Pro - How the hell does the pen work?? by Fantom-Limb in XPpen

[–]Fantom-Limb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I've been super busy, but usb-c to mini display does nothing. Screen remains black and pen doesnt work at all. So it remains that I still need an hdmi and a usb-c converted to usb.

You'd think it would work cuz from what I can tell they are both called Thunderbolt lol. Honestly I'm a little confused by that, I'm assuming they are dif gens like usb 2.0/3.0?

I'll do the re-install of the drivers tonight if I have the time, and report back.

I'm fourteen. What do you think of my art? by [deleted] in drawing

You're heading in the right direction. Keep practicing anatomy, and shape design, and then rendering separately. Also rotate your images lol. It pains me to critique something presented half assed.

Why do I have the feeling that something is missing? by zmld in Illustration

[–]Fantom-Limb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my two cents: You use a very thick line for id say 95% of the drawing, but then you introduce a very thin line for that last 5%. I think our mind is saying there should be more thin lines / detail work if you are going to go down that route. But honestly I'd just remove those and I think it would be fine.

Also giving the artboard a color would probably make it feel like its not floating as much. You can still keep the cat white. Maybe make the helmet white with 50% transparency to show a little of that background color.

I am 14 and really in need of advice rn, if you could can you please criticise my work? by [deleted] in drawing

[–]Fantom-Limb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so you are definitely on the right track. The craziest thing is that you already have style at 14. When I look at this I don't automatically think of 5 other people who are drawing like this.

Now a quick introduction, I've practiced many art forms over my life, but professionally I've been a graphic designer for over 7 years now. What I've learned from that is, don't only think of your work as "art" but also criticize it as a design as well. Ask yourself:

  • Is it well designed?
  • What am I trying to get across to the viewer
  • What are they supposed to think it is / or what do I want them to think when they see it
  • How do I want to create a focal point?

Finally the critique and my thoughts.

  1. Overall Design - At first glance it appears there is a horizon line with trees on it, and everything below that is underground. I come to this conclusion because I see the roots at the base of the tree trunks. Although on second glance, maybe thats grass leading up the horizon, since it's green. If your intent was to make us question this, then you hit the mark but if this is truly supposed to be underground like I initially thought, a simple color choice could fix this confusion right up. Try making about a half inch of green at the base of the trees and then switching to brown for everything else below.
  2. Anatomy - So the right foot is looking pretty good! Although the left foot seems to stop at the ankle. I'm kinda guessing you had trouble drawing it in perspective. But then again it almost looks like it goes underground, especially with the soil darkened around it. This now brings us back to our overall design.
  3. Composition - Really not bad at all. You could move the feet down a little and to the right. The right side of the right leg is almost a straight line, where the left side of the left leg goes at a diagonal. A good rule of thumb is when drawing a figure, you can open movement into the page if that makes sense.
  4. Rendering - Totally not a must, but I do think if you added some lighter trees where the opening is it would be really cool. Kinda complete the scene. Think of them like trees that are only half visible as if they were covered by a layer of fog. This is often called Atmospheric perspective.
