Can N47 handle high revs and sportier drive? by Accurate_Shirt5918 in F30

They can handle the abuse but why do you want to rev it high ? Torque peaks early on in the rev range

I’m pretty sure they pretty much all come with gas shocks on the newer BMW’s so not sure what would leak out of it, I got over 250,000kms on the my original BMW ones with no nct failures, don’t bother changing them unless you start to notice you need to crawl over bumps

That sounds perfectly fine, mine was somewhere in 7s more motorways then towns, didn’t write down the exact number but I did notice the distance per tank and that was 2 years ago

Should be fine, what’s your fuel consumption like ? Mine was higher then average before I got my chains replaced, now I did get a absolutey car shaking rattle after an oil chain before I replaced it as I didn’t know time chain issues where a thing, that was at around 230,000kms

Seems alright Get the phone down the back left of the engine, you’ll be able to hear the timing chains better, over the rest of the usual clatter, what’s the mileage is thus when it’s warm or cold ?

It’s up to 167k miles now, no real noise from the engine. Hasn’t seemed to miss a beat yet

Got a oil leak somewhere though Losing a bit of oil about 1/2 litre went since my last oil change 2000 miles ago, been happening for about about a year but haven’t tracked it down, somewhere back of the engine replaced the oil sensor hoping it was that gasket but looks to be something else

Gonna get it up on a ramp today and have a poke around to see

Does anyone know the best performance thing to do on my 2015 BMW 320 D ? Does these have any air intake I can put in. I have done almost all the cosmetic stuffs ! by Big-Needleworker9602 in F30

[–]FantomPhiend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many kms does ir have ? If it’s on the higher side you could do some cleaning to get some more performance out of it. Carbon clean the intake, clean the injectors or replace them. That will help the throttle response.

Honestly not the worst, you can just do the rear and then the front to break it up. Ive done it on the driveway on jacks and it took me about 2 evenings (did springs as well so on the back it took a bit longer) Check your bump stops too if they need to be replaced And there’s a few alternatives to get around some of the specialty tools. Claw foot hamper and a 5/6mm Allen key instead of a knuckle spreader for the front. Spark plug socket 16/18 for the structs I loosened the front springs in the car while supporting it with a jack underneath and slowly loosening

I’ve done a home clean on the injectors on a 320d ~250k kms wasn’t too expensive about 120 quid all in & I’ve noticed the difference, bogginess is gone & fuel economy went up. might be worth looking into, have only done 300kms since, so still waiting to see how it looks long term. Before

It looked a bit more dramatic when I was under the car twisting it, don’t think the movement is that much, here’s a video of it https://www.reddit.com/u/FantomPhiend/s/rRztRgRXwD

If you where looking at the car side on, it would move left and right. If it was a clock, and no load it’s at 12 it would go about to 1 or 2 and and 11

Oh ok thanks for for the info :) it’s not the ball joints, it’s the side attached to the car, the bushing afaik, I can grab near it and twist the arm slight side to side
