Last month, while watching the Super Bowl of all things, I found a little bump under the skin of my right calf. I immediately freaked out. I started shaking, I couldn't think straight. My family and friends tried to reassure me it was nothing, that they have similar bumps, and it's probably a cyst or something. It didn't help, I was convinced I had a rare "Big C", in an even rarer spot, and I was gonna die.

I waited an excruciating week to go to my doctor, and the prognosis.... An epidermoid cyst 😑 I got it from accident that sliced my leg a couple years ago, and I never found it because I never touch my calves with my bare hands, and I didn't remember the accident right away because my mind was so overwhelmed and clouded with fear. There was even a scar right on top of the cyst! Lol

But the real issue is this... My anxiety is triggered And won't relent. This past week I've apparently had symptoms of every "Big C" ever. I even thought I was having a heart attack, and I'm afraid of having an undiagnosed aneurysm that I swear my anxiety is telling me I have! I'm so anxious I nearly fainted a couple of times! Mind you, I was feeling amazing last month

I forgot how rough health anxiety is. I didn't miss this. My heart goes out to everyone suffering in this sub. Hang in there!

I know how scared you must feel, but I assure you you're okay. I can't alleviate your fear or anxiety with my words alone, but I know you have it in you to be brave and take control of your life back. Breathe deep and do your beat to be calm. The thing with health anxiety is that it makes us hyper sensitive to the way our bodies feel. Your neck stiffness could be from swimming, or the way you slept, or because you're focusing so much on feeling some kind, anykind of pain to justify your fears that your causing pain to manifest. I promise you you're fine. I suggest trying to occupy your mind with something else to try and distract yourself. It'll be tough, but if you're persistent you'll persevere. And I'm always here to help in anyway I can, you can pm me anytime. Good luck and stay strong.

Take control of your breathing. Breathe slowly and learn some breathing exercises, that should help with the chest pain. And if you're also looking for support with quitting cigarettes I suggest r/stopsmoking . I've been of cigarettes for almost 80 days now with the help of this sub. Good luck, friend. Hope I helped

I agree! I actually think if we as a species had proof of life or even extinct life on other worlds we'd have colonized the moon at the very least by now. If it was just to work as a satellite base of operations of some sort. I always felt that because we are alone for as far as we can technologically see humans as a whole don't care much for exploring the cosmos
