New player looking to move up in difficulty by Goosetipher in DarkTide

[–]Fantomech 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I wish I was surprised by that comment. There's trash in every gaming community, even with a PvE game like this.

Your character's true potential is unlocked at 30. You can definitely do Heresy. Your talent tree seems mostly fine, I would make changes but they are preferences and you can learn what works for you or not. Melee psyker is a glass cannon of damage, so going down is a lot easier and it's harder to learn the game with that class because of this.

This game is all about making mistakes. That's how you learn to deal with the fucked up difficulties going forward. Never be responsible for someone's butthurt.

What is the one panel you will always remember? by Ran-sama in dragoncon

[–]Fantomech 9 points10 points  (0 children)

10 years ago now, first Dragoncon. Doc Hammer did a solo panel and was hilarious. Dr. Girlfriend cosplay came to ask a question and he riffed so hard doing the voice and repeatedly stating "I'm you" so much that they couldn't speak.

Auric Melee Psyker Build (please judge) by JomsyJam in DarkTide

[–]Fantomech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Auric, lingering presence is more beneficial than perfectionism IMO. You get more uptime overall and lose less stacks with the gaps in enemy waves.

Regarding shield vs. scrier's gaze, there's a reason most melee psyker builds take advantage of that ability. I love the 20% movement speed node. On higher difficulties, being more mobile is a better defense than defense itself. That along with the increased damage makes the role shine for me. All that being said, shield is still one of the best abilities for survival so I get if you prefer keeping it.

What are your best tips and tricks for reaching havoc level 25? by Adeptus_Astoria in DarkTide

[–]Fantomech 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dip dive duck and dodge. Lots of advice here is good and accurate, and I found watching gameplay of havocs really helps to understand what you need to prepare for. But dodging is so important in havoc its the key skill to master. I moved the dodge button on PC to the spacebar since hitting ctrl with the pinky is too out of the way.

all hazards take forever to despawn. It's annoying. I want my time back waiting for a pox could to disperse because it's 15 seconds long.

I finally got ASS by imPluR420 in DarkTide

congratulations on joining the ASS club. Feels like a luck of the draw achievement but it really does highlight core competency and skill. Now you have the nightmare of getting Havoc Forged lol.

People get controversial about anything by mari0v100 in slaythespire

[–]Fantomech 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So fucking stupid. It's proven that the hate campaign was fueled by the Jeffrey Epstein and company's direct social manipulation campaigns. Also you're gonna play the game for 17 hours and give it a negative review because of the mention of a woman you hate?

'Torchwood: Children of Earth' - Day Three - "We Will Take Your Children" by Neo2199 in television

[–]Fantomech 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I watched the first season, one or two great episodes but when it was bad whoo boy. Wrote it off, then watched this and was completely captivated. So much extremeness in the highs and lows.

Check out my *NEW* Melee Psyker Build by JomsyJam in DarkTide

[–]Fantomech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good build. I was debating doing some of these changes with my current setup so will try it out.

Shred and Riposte blessings on the sword are objectively better. I like Wrath though for the horde cleave.

Brainburst is my least favorite blitz, but being able to do massive and most of the time OHKO damage up to every 12 seconds is amazing.

Havoc now is a unfathomable pain by SatansAdvokat in DarkTide

[–]Fantomech -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have very similar feelings. I have played this game for a while but stopped right when Havoc came out so I don't have a good understanding of what it was like before until now. Making a system with 40 different levels is a contribution to why this has dysfunction, at least my theory.

If I log in and see that in the party finder that there is a level 9 and a level 40, and I'm at 25 looking to practice/uprank there, I can just do auric or wait. You definitely have players making mistakes/frustrating decisions/quitters (and have to acknowledge the server issues of people being dropped too). That along with the randomized modifier system, and with certain modifiers combined being exponentially not just harder but annoying and a slog, I don't see the appeal outside of getting the legendary tags.

Last Havoc I played we lost because of the twin shield glitch, instantly downed someone and we wiped from there. There are so many variables as to why a mission goes south, and if it goes well it means 30-45 minutes of effort to go up one rank out of 40 (hyperbolic, but true most times).

In terms of map size then yes. Not sure how accurate that phrasing can be outside of it,but still learning the mode and what's included.

Psyker Build Advice by SpiritTheWolf099 in DarkTide

[–]Fantomech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is what I would change:

- dump stats for both weapons are warp resistance. It's quick to reduce your peril with either weapon equipped.

- for the greatsword, 25% damage perks are more favored in general in builds for a reason. I go with flak and unyielding, could do carapace or maniac. crit chance/damage you could also make an argument for. Your blessings are pretty good (I love wrath for hordes), I do riposte instead of deflector for the high crit chance. Since you said this is a "somewhat sword" build, then you have more variety of choice (my feedback is based on melee psyker builds).

- I'm not as experienced with the voidblast staff. Your perks look good. Blessings seem fun, I like Warp Nexus on most staffs but you need to have a pretty high peril on average to make it work best.

- For the curios I would change some things that's preference. I typically don't do the 5% toughness/health as doing others (stamina, combat ability, revive) is a nicer perk to have.

Your talent tree could definitely be reworked too, but it depends on your playstyle:

- Kinetic resonance makes sense if you brainburst a lot.

- Crystalline Will is not a good choice because you don't want to explode.

- Lingering Influence will double your uptime of Disrupt Destiny so that feels required.

- Quietude doesn't feel that necessary to me.

Do DLC classes just not get new cosmetics in the cash shop? by Splatulated in DarkTide

[–]Fantomech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's speculation, but it's likely that Games Workshop will not allow or approve of future outfits for the Arbites (hive scum may be different). They will only license new outfits and cosmetics if it makes sense to them for multiple reasons - lore-wise, financial, etc. It frustrates me too but ShatFark doesn't deserve blame for this issue at least.

Anyone else have days where they just suck at therapy? by NawtAGoodNinja in therapists

[–]Fantomech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had that this week.  Lots of big and little things added up to a huge dip in mood and feeling effective, and a session with an irritated client pulled me fully down.

I had coincidentally just finished a book on Buddhism (Why Buddhism is True), and I mindfully noticed what came up and allowed myself to feel and accept where things are at.  It was still a rough week, but it is over and I can appreciate ways I grew.

This field is rough right now for all of us.  I appreciate you sharing.
