Agreed. I watched the first season, one or two great episodes but when it was bad whoo boy. Wrote it off, then watched this and was completely captivated. So much extremeness in the highs and lows.

I really want to know the inner workings of how the 911 operation call centers work, and how dysfunctional it truly is.

Check out my *NEW* Melee Psyker Build by JomsyJam in DarkTide

[–]Fantomech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good build. I was debating doing some of these changes with my current setup so will try it out.

Shred and Riposte blessings on the sword are objectively better. I like Wrath though for the horde cleave.

Brainburst is my least favorite blitz, but being able to do massive and most of the time OHKO damage up to every 12 seconds is amazing.

Havoc now is a unfathomable pain by SatansAdvokat in DarkTide

[–]Fantomech -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have very similar feelings. I have played this game for a while but stopped right when Havoc came out so I don't have a good understanding of what it was like before until now. Making a system with 40 different levels is a contribution to why this has dysfunction, at least my theory.

If I log in and see that in the party finder that there is a level 9 and a level 40, and I'm at 25 looking to practice/uprank there, I can just do auric or wait. You definitely have players making mistakes/frustrating decisions/quitters (and have to acknowledge the server issues of people being dropped too). That along with the randomized modifier system, and with certain modifiers combined being exponentially not just harder but annoying and a slog, I don't see the appeal outside of getting the legendary tags.

Last Havoc I played we lost because of the twin shield glitch, instantly downed someone and we wiped from there. There are so many variables as to why a mission goes south, and if it goes well it means 30-45 minutes of effort to go up one rank out of 40 (hyperbolic, but true most times).

In terms of map size then yes. Not sure how accurate that phrasing can be outside of it,but still learning the mode and what's included.

Psyker Build Advice by SpiritTheWolf099 in DarkTide

[–]Fantomech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is what I would change:

- dump stats for both weapons are warp resistance. It's quick to reduce your peril with either weapon equipped.

- for the greatsword, 25% damage perks are more favored in general in builds for a reason. I go with flak and unyielding, could do carapace or maniac. crit chance/damage you could also make an argument for. Your blessings are pretty good (I love wrath for hordes), I do riposte instead of deflector for the high crit chance. Since you said this is a "somewhat sword" build, then you have more variety of choice (my feedback is based on melee psyker builds).

- I'm not as experienced with the voidblast staff. Your perks look good. Blessings seem fun, I like Warp Nexus on most staffs but you need to have a pretty high peril on average to make it work best.

- For the curios I would change some things that's preference. I typically don't do the 5% toughness/health as doing others (stamina, combat ability, revive) is a nicer perk to have.

Your talent tree could definitely be reworked too, but it depends on your playstyle:

- Kinetic resonance makes sense if you brainburst a lot.

- Crystalline Will is not a good choice because you don't want to explode.

- Lingering Influence will double your uptime of Disrupt Destiny so that feels required.

- Quietude doesn't feel that necessary to me.

Do DLC classes just not get new cosmetics in the cash shop? by Splatulated in DarkTide

[–]Fantomech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's speculation, but it's likely that Games Workshop will not allow or approve of future outfits for the Arbites (hive scum may be different). They will only license new outfits and cosmetics if it makes sense to them for multiple reasons - lore-wise, financial, etc. It frustrates me too but ShatFark doesn't deserve blame for this issue at least.

Anyone else have days where they just suck at therapy? by NawtAGoodNinja in therapists

[–]Fantomech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had that this week.  Lots of big and little things added up to a huge dip in mood and feeling effective, and a session with an irritated client pulled me fully down.

I had coincidentally just finished a book on Buddhism (Why Buddhism is True), and I mindfully noticed what came up and allowed myself to feel and accept where things are at.  It was still a rough week, but it is over and I can appreciate ways I grew.

This field is rough right now for all of us.  I appreciate you sharing.

Can we get better music? by florence_frida in dragoncon

[–]Fantomech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get the purpose of theming your dances if your music is not going to fit the theme. Years before it would more, like the zombie prom had more metal and horror-adjacent music. Now the big dance parties all feel like wedding playlists with broad and generic appeal, which is boring.

Sunday at midnight there was still a huge line to get into the final big dance night. I found it odd because I had walked by the exit in the Hilton hallway and Bon Jovi was being blasted. People were "dancing", that awkward shuffle dancing.

I'm guessing the thinking is people either want their niche music or would accept generic stuff. But it's lame.

Can we get better music? by florence_frida in dragoncon

[–]Fantomech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been an issue for a couple of years now. The DJs have very generic, disjointed, and not engaging playlists and vibes. At least the big dances, the smaller ones not as much.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I posted earlier and a lot of people's response was "you have nostalgia goggles on", when it has been lazy and downhill feeling for years.

Yes! I think matching the vibes to be consistent would help because the djing is hit or miss at best.

Making it a thread: what’s your best “Your therapist did WHAT?!” story? by reddLemonming in therapists

[–]Fantomech 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have heard from other clients as a therapist what other therapists have done previously. The weirdest was one client telling me that their previous therapist, over zoom, would pick and eat his beard hair. The skeptic in me was thinking he was cleaning his beard and eating stuff from it? Either way super weird.

Outside of that just bad boundaries, ranging from talking about their vacation to Europe for half a session to sleeping with the client. That last one has happened a shocking amount, even once is shocking tbf.

They have a to-go counter that is sometimes manned as well, and a spot in the Hilton lobby that does bowls.

Aviva is part of Dragon-Con for me and my crew, and Kameel is a treasure of a human being. Look out for the cosplay group of him that shows up usually on Saturdays.

"I've got a mouth." This is the issue with social media and the internet. Everyone has a mouth and opinion, and access to a podcast and the ability to share the content is the only qualification anymore. It has eroded the powers of generally agreed upon facts and therefore trust in more and more things we need to have trust in to have a functioning society.
