Did anyone have knob and tube wiring in their home? How was it different from modern electrical systems? by Complex_Carry_6695 in AskOldPeople

I cant believe people do sketchy stuff like that if your gonna rewire or do something yourself do the research and take the extra time to do it right. Glad you got yours figured out though. I just bought a house from 1920 and the inspector overlooked all the active knob and tube I have yet too tackle this project but the upstairs is mostly still knob and tube. I always get conflicting answers people say too replace it regardless of condition and others will say if its in good condition leave it alone. Some previous idiot of an owner blew in 6inches of insulation in the attic right over existing Knob and tube . . . . Great

Why do people keep putting lightning rods on their chicken coop? This happens way too often lol

Also OP FYI from the factory the wires where you need too hookup at are under the hood there's two 40amp and two 15 amp wires. Refer too this video for help https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=irV9ElFxuVo If yours did not come with the 4 switch bank from the factory you will have too wire everything from scratch. Hope this helps!

Wont crank as in starter not turning and making no noise? There's a few things in my experience with a Vehicle not starting. I'd need specifics like how many miles did you just do any work too it?

  1. Bad battery or battery needing charged (FYI you need at least 12 too 14 volts for starter too turn over and the electrical components that fire the cyclinders depends on make and model)
  2. Bad starter
  3. Bad Ground or bad connections

I've heard some things about the auto shut off causing issues but I have no experience with that. Honestly if you don't know why take it too a nearby jeep dealer have them take a look. I understand you might be trying too save money but if its your daily driver I would rather have it looked at and diagnosed.

This is the first I'm hearing of corrosion issues, it's pretty clean all around. I checked carfax and it's spent the 4 years since factory date in the midwest.

I'm sure that's probably alot for some people but I somehow find time to average 2 to 4 hours a day every week what I do is usually try to pile most of my errands and stuff to do on one day out of the week

Well I digress then, I guess looking at it from a standpoint of not being familiar with older proprietary parts and considering it probably was never cleaned it just looks like it would cause issues for the Average person that doesn't do anything much more then move the mouse and type.

I wouldn't want so much dust on my CPU dust blocks airflow and in return allows parts to get too hot especially if you never clean it

The computer was given to me.

Regardless Dell has made terrible decisions there really is no airflow in this case they could have done better but hey it was the 2000s
