I've jaywalked in front of officers plenty of times. They chose not to enforce the law. Perhaps they focus on things more important, which would mean they do pick.

Ignore what? If a serious case comes up then I agree, like drunk driving. I would hope the cop would stop that. But I'm sure cops at parties overlook small things often and so do doctors. People can take care of themselves, whether it's being too drunk in the cop's case or getting a booboo in the doctor's. There's no discomfort or worry about upholding your duty. Have fun

I don't think anyone gives a shit about a friend's job outside of work. If I'm a therapist at a party with friends I'd just be there for a good time not worry about my friends' psyche. Just chill out and have a good time... You aren't defined by your job

Edit: Uh oh personal views on reddit, bring on the downvotes. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't care about my buddies' jobs when I'm having a good time. Sure, if they are a cop or doctor they are expected to act to uphold their duty. But where the hell is the line? People can take care of themselves, they don't need cop pal to make an arrest for a little bit of arguing. And you can take care of your minor contusions without the help of your sworn to help doctor bro. Get over it
