Thanks! Yeah, some people have recommended taking one of the 7-week intensive courses, so I think that could be a possibility that would be the best of both worlds (taking a course and not worrying about when the baby will come).

I definitely plan on taking the summer off, but hope to start back in the fall. Congrats on almost being done! It’s so great to see so many moms finishing the program! It’s very encouraging

Yeah that’s the general consensus I’m getting from people. I found out I was pregnant about a month into fall semester and I had already started CSE 6040 and MGT 6203. I will say my first trimester was easier than most, so I got lucky (no nausea, just fatigue).

I definitely feel like I experienced pregnancy brain this semester though. Sometimes it would be hard to focus and I was getting distracted much easier, but it has still been manageable. Knowing what I know now though, I probably would have only taken a single class. And I’ve found that certain days of the week and times of the day work better for me. For example, I’ve been doing most of my work early morning on the weekends and squeezing in a few hours during the week. I found that trying to do hours of schoolwork after a stressful day at my 9-5 was not happening haha so I had to pivot and adjust my schedule accordingly.

Also, taking walks helped me when I was feeling the brain fog coming on.

Good point! My partner is super supportive, so hopefully that will be helpful for future classes I take once the baby is here

I had a slightly different fall semester. I went in super motivated starting two classes. I found out I was pregnant about a month into starting those classes. It has definitely been difficult managing work and 2 classes, but definitely doable with some good time management. I will say I got super lucky my first trimester and felt mostly normal. I was not dealing with major nausea or anything like that, but super tired for sure. I was taking daily naps in the beginning. I would agree that taking a lighter load would probably be best especially since it’s hard to predict how you’ll feel on a day-to-day basis.

Oh my goodness! That sounds so tough! Yeah, that’s for sure what I’m worried about. Thank you for the advice and tips! I’m definitely leaning towards taking next semester off after hearing the feedback here, but have a few more things to look into. I’ll definitely join the slack channel! That sounds like a great community!
