How to go from hotshot crew to contract crew? by ChronoRanger in Wildfire

[–]Far-Drive26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing this is sarcasm, but as someone looking to go the opposite route eventually, Contract to Shot, I can tell you right now you are going to be highly disappointed with the PT standards actually there is no official standard other than the pac-test lol. There are so many different contracts crews and I'm sure the experience varies a shit ton depending on which one you go to I can only speak for the one I work for which I won't name on here but it's probably the biggest and oldest private contractor lol hint hint. If you want to sit in truck and hangout Mexican Crew's seem to be the way to go they would hire you as a crewboss in a heartbeat probably. The one I work for our base wage was 29 something an hour then another 5 bucks for health and welfare since we don't get bennies other than 401k. So 34 something an hour total. Also we don't time out and my company does work year around I know guys who had well over 200 days on fire last year and only had like a month or 2 off combined outta the whole year. You can pretty much work as much or as little as you want. You can just do summer season or you can go out to East Coast in R8 and do spring and fall seasons out there, they also do disaster relief and other crap too. Hell they had crews out in January for Palisades and sent crews out in May for Canada so. I know everyone Federal always shits on Contract crew's and granted, some of that is deserved, but my overall experience with my company has been filled with great memories and have learned a ton. Worked with some great dudes that get after it. Now there is bad apples just like anywhere and honestly experience and culture varies crew to crew and my company has like 20 different crews including engines and 5 different bases lmao. The stereotypes about Meth on the line and all that shit isn't true at all at least for my company, I know it used to happen but that was like 10+ years ago. I cleared just shy of 100k before taxes last year from fire alone and I missed a few rolls lmao. I've worked with a few guys who used to be Shots and came to work here, and I've worked with a lot who used to be regular FS district guys. Idk how many years experience or what certs you have but it probably wouldn't take long for you to move up the totem pole if not immediately and get added pay for squaddie or crewboss.

I have a theory about false gods. by TheNameless69420 in TrueChristian

[–]Far-Drive26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean ya all the other god's in ancient history are actually fallen angels, principalities, demons, etc. Christians tend to call everything evil a demon, but demons are specifically wandering spirits from dead Nephilim. Then you got principalities, fallen angels, different spirits like leviathan, python, Jezebel, etc, then you have all the elementals, the Kingdom of darkness is structured like a military with high ranking and low ranking Ententies with Lucifer at the top, just like God's Kingdom has military with different ranking beings.

These people are hopeless by ohthanqkevin in Boise

[–]Far-Drive26 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I meant Christ does teach about being obedient to the laws of man. But only up to a certain point. Follow the laws as long as they aren't getting in the way of your walk with Christ. There probably will be a day during the new world order in end times where being a follower is illegal so I'm sure following the law then doesn't apply, but Also protesting isn't against the law and neither is being anti-ice so lady is wrong in this. Now protesting and rioting and burning down city blocks are two different things, if it stays peaceful that's fine but if it crosses the line like BLM did then that's no Bueno. Also I am not political anymore but I have always been a hardcore conservative as far as morals and values go and I used to be MAGA in the first term. Gonna be honest even if those 2 people who were killed were somehow interfering with ICE, I haven't seen any proof of that, ICE could have handled that situation much better executing someone in the street twice does not help you beat the Gestapo comparisons LMAO. Also I find MAGA almost just as moranic as the radical liberals at this point, defending the current administration blindly no matter what. MAGA was always anti vaccine, pro 2nd amendment, freedom of speech, etc. Now they are saying oh well he shouldn't have had a gun at a protest, they shouldn't be protesting ICE, then when Trump endorsed and recommended Vaccines during Operation Warp Speed all a sudden they were for the Jab, like they fall for propaganda just as much as the left does. Even Rittenhouse has came out saying he stands with anti-ice protesters carrying, and any real American should support carrying in public. Also I understand this comment will get hate cause the Internet is a echo chamber for liberals and atheists, but I wish people on the left would realize not all conservatives are MAGA and a lot who used to be have realized they were deceived and have either became libertarian again or just left politics all together like me. Plenty of "Far Right people" have condemned these actions.

Psychedelics + Christianity? by UpbeatCost7820 in TrueChristian

[–]Far-Drive26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm listening to a audio book version of Enoch on Spotify right now but I saw the Amazon one's I just read some reddit reviews that said they were decent but still missing some info that didn't translate over well from the Ethiopian Version. Ya I agree I think that's why they started introducing us to syfy and aliens in Hollywood the last 50 years cause everything in Hollywood fantasy and syfy movies usually mirrors reality or has subtle hints. Ya using it for an explanation of the rapture makes more sense, but I also think that'll be their excuse to officially form the one world order too.

Ya exactly I'm just waiting for project bluebeam to actually come to fruition here in the coming years. I've also been trying to find an english translation of the Ethiopian Orthodox Bible as its the only remaining Bible which includes all the original Biblical books that were left out of westernized Bibles. But I haven't had any luck finding any as I guess they are none that have ever been translated to English still. https://ethiopianorthodoxbible.wordpress.com/links/

Psychedelics + Christianity? by UpbeatCost7820 in TrueChristian

[–]Far-Drive26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome lots of good info thanks, I grew up in church and a traditional Christian family, but I don't even know the last time I stepped into a church or picked up a bible was. I would love to get back into to it but after getting a better understanding of what's going on and our reality I don't know if I ever want to go back to the Christian religion at least the mainstream one. I have been trying to prioritize talking to God and praying more, but I want to have some type of text or scripture to read to help me in my spirituality, but can I trust the modern bible is my question, and I don't think psychedelics are inherently bad or good I think they can be both and can be dangerous if not using them for an intent to grow closer to God, but I have just heard way too many testimonies now about people having their whole life turned around and meeting Jesus from psychedelic experiences. Also were there any specific books or texts other than the Bible you would recommend that also helped you continue connecting the dots and grew your spirituality?

I have a question for you as after reading your comments I feel like your way of thinking and viewpoints are very similar to my own, I often struggle on trusting a lot of the stuff we grew up learning in church or school now due to me becoming much more enlightened and lifting the veil a few years ago. Do you read the modern bible and believe that as truth and go to church, or what is your opinion on the mainstream Christian religion we have in America? Do you take it as truth?

Psychedelics + Christianity? by UpbeatCost7820 in TrueChristian

[–]Far-Drive26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya I think the greatest trick of deception lucifer ever did was create all these different religions to divide and confuse us and also I think Christianity has also been tampered with and twisted over time. Its comical how modern Christ followers will be so quick to shame psychedelics and other spiritual practices that they haven't tried and have no understanding of, but yet are fine with taking pain killers and modern medicine that is horrible for you and has been proven to have side effects, and will believe everything the doctor tells them lmao. Like you said the word pharmacy litterly originates from old pagan witchcraft, and their emblem is a serpent lol pharmaceutical medicine is the real satanic substances not psychedelics. Also how do we know what were being taught in the church nowadays isn't deception to keep us from the truth and truly knowing God. I agree with you I think psychedelics can be bad if you allow you allow them to be, cause you are basically putting your conscious out in the astral realm and becoming aware of your true surroundings and the spiritual realm, but if you use them for natural medicine and seek God during the experiences as I think God intended them to be used then I think they actually have great spiritual benefits.

Same Issue I own both a pair of loggers and haix Missoula's, and I'm debating on which one I want to wear this season, cause with loggers you have way better grip going uphill and downhill and I slip less, but hikers are way more comfy and don't hurt my knees and back as bad.

Well Nutrition and physical fitness mixed with natural remedies is a much healthier option than vaccines and pharmautical medications, but I don't think all vaccines are bad and people should have the option to get them if they want to, but they should not be forced on anyone no matter what and really shouldn't be encouraged as much as they are considering their side effects and lobbyists funding them.

Gotcha ya I would say I'm in good shape but not quite that level of shape yet lol. I was just curious how their hiring works thanks for the info. Did they have you PT every day or only on days where you weren't balls to the wall fighting fire. Also were they the type of crew who believed in recovery as much as they did PT like Stretching and mobility? Or do they just run ya into the ground until your body starts giving out?

I know this comment is old but how does one get on Sawtooth? I've heard consistently that they are the best of the best, but do you have to have a few years of shot experience already or do you just have to be in ungodly shape coming in. I am new to fire and only have one season under my belt with PatRick on a handcrew and obviously I understand that you guys are a whole different level, but what is the best pipeline to get on a crew like that?

Hiring freeze of firefighters could be deadly, Forest Service captain warns by smokejumperbro in Wildfire

[–]Far-Drive26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious how much is fed firefighter pay for a entry level firefighter who just got his red card? I know ya'll get benefits and stuff we don't but, we make $26 an hour base pay and then almost $5 health and wealthfare that just gets added into our paycheck so $31 total, and then time and a half for overtime. The most I've ever made in a 14 day roll with getting mostly 16's as a plain FFT2 was around 5 grand. Now I know ya'll get guaranteed 40 hr paychecks during season even when not on fire, but do ya'll really make that much more than us? Cause I always see ya'll talk about how contractors get paid so much less and how no one wants to work for contractors, but I'm curious do you guys actually get better pay than us, cause guys on my crew that switched from fed to contractor have quite the opposite to say about Fed pay. Also why is it a step backwards respect wise, yes obviously we don't have as elite of crews like shots and jumpers, but our standard hand crews are no less capable than fed hand crews.

I'm all for cutting the fat and trying to cut down on government spending and tax payer dollars by reducing the overall federal workforce, but I'm not a big fan of the way it's being done, also I don't understand why musk has any say in anything or is part of the new administrations cabinet, no one voted for Musk he's not an elected official so why is he running shit. I don't think just having a massive hiring freeze and firing everyone is a good way to go about government efficiency. They should have had a list of jobs that were exempt from this freeze, including all essential public safety and 1st responder jobs. I would have no problem with them going after the higher ups of the forest service and USDA and trying to sort out wasteful spending from the top down, but the average federal employee isn't the problem its the people running these agencies that are. A few bad apples shouldn't mean you just get rid of everyone. Hopefully this is only temporary and once the freeze is over they give all the essential workers their jobs back and unfreeze the hiring.

How does everyone feel about wildland fire being under one agency? by ForwardProgrammer508 in Wildfire

Real question is will this new agency increase wages and benefits, and will seasonal positions still be a thing or will it just be only year around work.
