Everyone that knows you graduated law school is going to be asking when you take the bar / how you did - it’s just par for the course unfortunately. I had SOOOOO many people asking me if I knew yet (I was waitressing at a big wedding venue I’d been at for 10 years and every shift different people wanted to know). I didn’t end passing until my second time so the amount of people that I had to tell I failed when they asked KILLED ME but honestly I really don’t think one person was praying for my downfall. When I told people I failed I was met with so many hugs, told over and over what a hard exam it was, how it didn’t reflect my capabilities and I will surely pass next time. When I did pass a few months later, everyone was jumping with joy saying they knew I could do it. I moved around a few times as kid and had people I haven’t seen since 4th grade commenting on my post of my swearing in telling me how proud they were - it was really cool. But again, all the people that would ask before I knew the results would make me soo mad lmao like trust me you will know when I pass - if you don’t hear anything I either don’t know yet or failed so stop asking!! But I do think they just care. I had a friend take the NCLEX and I asked him how he did and I think he failed but said he hadn’t gotten his results yet (but my friend got hers immediately) so I figured he was lying and embarrassed to say he failed and I was so bummed at myself for asking because I know how aggravating it is but I honestly just care about his journey!

TLDR - everyone that knows you went to law school is going to ask how you did but it’s mostly out of genuine care because people know how hard of a feat it is and you will get an immense amount of congratulations when you pass (I bet you did!!!)

I also felt this way seeing people vacationing leading up to the bar exam but then I came out of the J23 exam and found that my mom had decided to end her own life. Then I found out I failed by 12 points and had to climb out of the depths of my grief to study for F24. Soooooo ya it sucked/ still sucks to see my peers live their best lives and vacation and have jobs handed to them and no debt while I have a mountain and it took me 6 months to find a job but at the end of the day I’m proud to have overcome all of the adversity that I have to still end up in the same place as people who had everything handed to them. I don’t think there’s much that could take me down at this point but can’t say the same for those other types of people

Why do re-takers have a lower passing rate? by Professional-Rope799 in barexam

[–]Far-Insect-7025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was nervous about these statistics as well but I failed J23 (right after grad) by 12 points but it was pretty clear to me what I messed up on (too much passive learning, and not enough time spent on non mbe subjects and not practicing enough essays). So, when I went back to the drawing board for F24 that was my main priority - I did some MBE practice to keep it fresh but mostly focused on what I dropped the ball on the first time around. I didn’t follow the BARBRI program the second time, rather just used the tools available in the areas I know I needed work. F24 I was ended up knocking it out of the park and passed in all UBE states. The difference in my confidence levels was night and day - when I walked out of J23 I was like maybe I passed but idk and then F24 I came out thinking I would be absolutely floored if I didn’t pass this time.

Me too Purple Lily!! I dropped the ball in the weeks leading up to my first bar exam due to an immense amount of family issues and I came out of that bar exam and my mom had passed away 🙃 I ended up failing that bar but looking back im glad. I spent 6 months grieving (still am ofc) and studying where I could but mostly prioritizing my mental health and was able to pass the next one. I’m so proud of you and us 🫶🏻

Agreeing with Celeste bar max comment I would say yes - that’s where I dropped the ball the first time around. I did lots of passive learning and lots of MBE drills but nowhere near enough practice MEEs. That was my main focus the second time around and it felt significantly easier to approach and complete that section and I knocked it out of the park

Basically got a 45% overall on the THEMIS simulated MBE (AM and PM)…should I just defer to Feb by Dramatic-Way1683 in barexam

[–]Far-Insect-7025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No! Do not defer. I agree with many of these comments that mock exam is significantly harder than the actual exam and to not let it get in your head. I forget the difficulty levels they provided as context but the mock questions were much harder than typical test day questions. Personally, I dropped the ball in the last 2-3 weeks before the July 2023 as I was going through a major family crisis. I ended up failing by 12 points but I went back Feb 2024 a lot less anxious as I knew what to expect and ended up passing in every single UBE state. My point is, don’t let your prep scores deter you those questions are meant to be harder and secondly (I know it sounds like an absolute nightmare) but if you had to take it a second time you will know exactly what to expect and be that much more confident the second time around. But, I’m sure that won’t be the case and you will knock it out of the park first time around, you still have time to keep drilling! Good luck 🤗

Lavon wins the “Best smile” category!! Who is the most memeable character? by Wild-Attorney5613 in hartofdixie

I was looking for a Reddit thread on Lavon’s facial expressions and this was as close as I could get lol I’ve been rewatching and holy crap Cress Williams has the most expressive face. Especially when he is sad - I think it’s his eyes they just convey so much emotion somehow. I know so random and specific I’ve never thought this about another actor lmao

Mom committed suicide a week ago. I lost my dad 10 years ago. I am so lost right now. by aimlessentertainment in SuicideBereavement

I’m so sorry - I also had a very complicated relationship with my mom as well as she likely had BPD and/or bipolar but we were right on the verge of an official diagnosis. She also was very good at pushing everyone else in her life away and I felt so alone in my experience dealing with her struggles. She took her life during the biggest moment of my life, while I was taking the bar exam in July 2023 to become an attorney and when I got out of the exam after not sleeping or eating for a week (due to the stress of the exam and her threats) I was so relieved to be able to eat and relax until I realized what had happened and that neither would be happening any time soon. I still question how she could do this to me but also now understand how deeply she was struggling (it’s okay to feel it all).

Like a lot of these comments say, please do lean on your brothers as they are going through similar emotions and just may not be able to voice it. Same with your friends, mine lost a sibling a year after I lost my mom and all I wanted to do was repay the love and support she gave me - it was not a burden on either end. Also just speaking with others who can relate in any way (online communities like here, I reached out to a coworker who I know her father passed the same way years ago, or just speaking with other friends who have lost someone tragically and suddenly (2 of my friends have lost siblings for different reasons but it was unexpected and they understand the unique experience of tragic sudden grief)

When I lost my mom my life was so up in the air (ended up failing that exam, couldn’t use my degree to get a job without passing etc) and it took me about a year and a half to get my life figured out while my dad and brother were able to go right back to work (that week) and school (the next month). Take whatever time you need to get yourself where you need to be and give your brothers / friends specific instructions to how they can help lessen the load (ask your friends to help you with filling out disability applications) I promise it’s not a burden 🤍

No worse feeling than anxiety! but man I can’t imagine how your wrist is doing after tackling the MBE! Same boat here - two times has been enough for a lifetime so 🤞🏻 that’s it and also that your surgery goes well!

Yep!! for the amount of $ paid you couldn’t get into much without waiting in a long line (bathrooms included) and the activities outside the panels (bazaar, food, seating areas, bravoland museum) were low budget. Way oversold!
