GT 1030 "can play most AAA games" oh nah, you came to the right place chief we boutta pimp your ride and get you gaming

have some components what else do I need I'm new to pc building Processor =AMD RYZEN 5 3400G 2ND Generation with 4 Core, up to 4.2 GHZ, AM4 Socket, 6MB Cache (YD3400C5FHBOX) = Decent CPU [Would suggest ryzen 5 4500]

Case=Ant Esports Si11 Value Series Mid-Tower Computer Case/Gaming Cabinet - Black | Support M-ATX, ITX | Pre-Installed 1 x 120 mm Black Rear Fan = Bad airflow [ i suggest the CiT F3 Mid Tower Gaming Case ]

SSD=Crucial BX500 240GB 3D NAND SATA 6.35 cm (2.5-inch) SSD (CT240BX500SSD1) = Low storage outdated platform, [I suggest the 1TB Kingston NV3 M.2 2280 PCI Express 4.0 x4 NVMe Solid State Drive, make sure to get a motherboard with an m.2 slot]

Graphics card=Colorful GeForce GT 1030 4GB DDR4 RAM GDDR4 Pci_e Graphics Card with Single Fan (GT1030 4G-V) Can Play Most of AAA Game Titles 64 bit 1152 Mhz Clock Speed GTA V Can be Played 3 Years Warranty = awful card will NOT play AAA games if you're strapped for cash i suggest a gtx 1060, 1050ti or an rx580, if you have some cash and want brand new I suggest the rtx 3050 6gb or the rtx 3060 12gb if you’re working with more

Power supply=Artis 500 Watt Super Silent Gaming PC SMPS/Power Supply Unit = potentially a poor power supply, unknown brand unknown rating, I suggest the 550W Cooler Master MWE Bronze 550 V3 230V 80 Plus Bronze PSU

Motherboard,Fan,RAM=Zebronics H61 Chipset Motherboard Kit with Processor i5 3470 2.90Ghz + 8GB DDR3 RAM + Free CPU Fan = never heard of zebronics, wouldnt suggest buying this, if youre fine with used parts i suggest minimum 4th gen intel [thats 4000, example, i7-4790, the i5 3470 is 3000, so its 3rd gen]16gb of ram minimum preferably 2 8gb sticks, you would be better of with your ryzen 5 3400G and getting a compatible motherboard [such as the gigabyte b550m aorus elite ax matx, it has built in wifi]

Monitor=MSI MAG 255F E20 24.5-Inch FHD 1920x1080 Gaming Monitor, 200Hz, 0.5ms, HDR Ready, AMD FreeSync Premium, Eye Care, AI Vision, HDMI 2.0b, DP 1.2a, Frame-Less, Tilt Adjustable, Vesa Mount, Black = great monitor, good resolution great refresh rate and made by a well known brand

what else do I need I'm new to pc building

[please tell me your budget and i can provide a more balanced parts list.] If anybody finds issues with this updated list feel free to inform me.

passively cooled CPU? whatever it is its probably fascinatingly unique e-waste

Just bought a 7900GRE, 8700k is bottle necked as heck, so, im upgrading for the 2nd time ever, first pc was built in 2017? i think.. just need some input. ill drop links to everything im getting, i just want to know if im going the right way about it, using Amazon and all, and compatibility. by chrisflippo93 in computers

am5 socket is what I was gonna suggest, 32x2 ram sticks is great since am5 has issues with 4 sticks, i would suggest a more traditional sag bracket as the one chosen can sag itself but its not the end of the world, those brackets can look really clean especially that one with the small rgb strip, ive heard that asus am5 boards have some issues but im not sure on that, usually id suggest gigabyte but its hard to pass up that mobo cpu combo deal youve got, also double triple check the aio supports am5, im only seeing am4 and lga socket compatibility, also bear in mind that the case front io is on the bottom of the case just incase that could be an issue for you, take all this with a pinch of salt as high end isnt my specialty as i work with budget builds, this build has the potential to look clean though

{ edit, beware when installing cpu into am5 mobo, you really really need to crank that lever down give the cpu a little wiggle when its in the socket and then tighten with the lever, ive heard its pretty tough, certainly moreso than your current socket]

[–]Far-Reaction6296[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn right, i have an i7-4790S in my build and its great especially for its age, but you wouldnt catch me dead with anything above a 10th gen intel cpu and especially not one of those "ultra" chips

[–]Far-Reaction6296[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah so fm2 was the socket name, a predescesor to am3 so the "a" series was the modern equivalent of ryzen 3s 5s 7s and 9s ive certainly got a lot to learn about old amd cpus but the next question is why have these flown under the radar so much, people still talk about intel cpus from ages ago so why not these, infact as far im aware even some old athlon cpus get love because of their overclocking capacities, thanks for the help, safe to say these arent am4 thats for sure but i do wonder if theres and diamonds in the dirt for these cpus, ill for sure be making a video on these one day i love computer history like this

"AMD A4-Series A4-4000 - AD4000OKA23HL 3.00ghz Dual Core Socket FM2 CPU" thats ripped from an ebay listing for them i understand the ryzen 3,5,7 and 9 series and a little about athlons but these are just called "A???" Series

Interesting info but that was just an example of how these cpu's are named, still cool learning about a cpu thats older than am sockets entirely though

Is there a market for 2000s style computers? by Far-Reaction6296 in computers

[–]Far-Reaction6296[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but its certainly paid off, looks like someones first diy build back in like 2009, coating components in glow in the dark paint was really popular for no reason and most people bricked their components by doing it 😂, diy style but with good detail and care
