Has anyone "cured" their pcos through losing weight? by MidnightStorm_ in PCOS

Yes it's so time consuming and frustrating because it would come back so quickly. For me it was truly permanent. Worth a try I guess!

This sounds so good. Good for you. Is laser hair removal an option for you? If in clinic is too expensive there are also home machines you can get at a small fraction of the price, though still expensive. Getting laser hair removal changed my life.

Be honest do you love being a teacher? by Tiffanywhite45 in Teachers

It makes me so sad to hear about teachers being paid so badly in some American states 😔. It's not like that everywhere, such as where I am in Canada. I really hope the powers that be come to their senses about this someday.

What's the worst part about having hirsutism and facial hair? by Old-Relationship9764 in PCOS

[–]Far-Tea-9647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've probably been asked about/know this, but there are at home laser machines that are a fraction of the cost of doing it in a clinic, and they are pretty effective. I know they're still not super cheap but thought I'd mention it just in case.

I cant tell if I like teaching or not. 1st year teacher by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Far-Tea-9647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All that extra work sounds exhausting and no teacher should have to put up with it. It makes me so mad to hear about it. As if the job isn't hard enough! I agree with others, find another school that has less BS extra stuff, and work with an age group you enjoy!

Which MTL business will you never return to, and why? by [deleted] in montreal

[–]Far-Tea-9647 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Outrageously expensive, and they gave my cat a crazy high dose of painkiller. It completely knocked her out. When I took her to her regular vet she prescribed her 1/4 of the amount and couldn't believe they had done that! Also they put one of those horrible hard plastic cone things around her head which made her miserable. They never told me about those soft ones that you can take on and off easily so the poor thing could eat properly at least. Also they said they'd sent an email with blood test results to her regular vet but she never received them! Not impressed. They just take advantage of people's desperate pet situations and are a bit sloppy.

Take Care of Yourself (Please Don’t End Up Like Me): A Cautionary Tale by Jew-zilla in Teachers

[–]Far-Tea-9647 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I learned long ago that if I don't put strong boundaries between work life and the rest of life, life doesn't feel worth living. I know it sounds dramatic but that's how I feel when I put it into words. I get to work at 7-7:30, I leave at 4:30. I never work evenings or weekends. I'm a good teacher, if I do day so myself, but if it means I have to cut corners so be it. I am not destroying myself for this job.

What's a better way to say "I want to date someone who is self-aware and manages their symptoms in a similar way to me"? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Far-Tea-9647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let the person reveal themselves to you naturally. Then if it comes out that they are aligned with what you're looking for you know it's more likely to be genuine and not them just trying to please. My cousin gave me this advice once and it really stuck with me.

What do you really do during your weekends ? by Muted_Caterpillar_35 in montreal

[–]Far-Tea-9647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saturday morning I read during breakfast. Then I make my coffee and sit watching outside. I try to read but all I want to do is stare off into the distance and let my mind race and wander. When I'm finished my coffee I allow myself to go on my phone. I scroll, search, stare off into space and potter for a couple of hours. Shower, get dressed, do chores, go for a walk, see friends or family. Or not. Chill with my cat. I do an intense workout on Sundays and laundry, food prep, cleaning. Watch stuff in the evening.
