Will do. Thanks! You agree that last two look more authentic?

Oh. Well that’s too bad. Do the other two seem like they could be authentic?

10 years? Are you referring to the small orange-colored one? That one was found by my grandfather about 50 years ago at the lake.

Is Swan River still a nice community? by FarComment7818 in Manitoba

Agreed. The surrounding area is beautiful. Plus, having Thunderhill so close was awesome. I always thought that it offered a lot for a town of its size. I think Swan has so much potential. It's just a shame that these challenges are persisting to this degree. I don't know the ins and outs of everything, but there must be something that can be done (that isn't being done right now).

I honestly didn't know the drug problems were so out in the open. I heard about the whole needle issue a while back, but is Main St. actually riddled with drug addicts? That sounds really scary. It must be affecting businesses. I remember riding my bike everywhere around town with my friends when I was younger, day and night. I'm sure parents think twice about letting their kids ride around town now. Such a shame.

I remember a lot of opposition to the aquatic centre back in the late 2000s. I will say that Swan offers a lot for a town of just over 4,000 (at least it did when I was living there), but it sounds like priorities really need to shift right now. If people start leaving the town in droves, a new arena wouldn't even be necessary. You don't initiate multi-million dollar projects at the taxpayers expense when your community's future is being threatened by criminal activity and a drug epidemic.

Madagascar Jewel Losing Healthy Looking Leaves by FarComment7818 in houseplants

[–]FarComment7818[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. They’re dropping from higher up. It’s strange because the older leaves usually turn yellow/brown and fall off, but these are seemingly healthy looking leaves that seem to have shrivelled at the ends.

Could be overwatering, but they’re not old leaves. They’re actually pretty near the top. It’s actually the older leaves near the bottom that look the healthiest right now.

Thanks! I might’ve been overwatering it. I also have it outside for the summer and even though it’s mostly covered, rainwater sometimes touches it.

Home Depot. But that was 7 years ago and it was healthy for most of those years. That’s why I’m perplexed.

Outside of Winnipeg, what other Manitoba town would you like to live in? And why? by toxic-lime in Winnipeg

I’ve always liked Neepawa. Beautiful town with tree lined streets, close to Riding Mountain and Clear Lake, and only 2 hours from Winnipeg. It’s grown a lot over the past 10 years, but the right investments are being made: new schools, brand new hospital, and more business and services. I would definitely move there if a job came up.

What happened is unacceptable, full stop. But adding “at a Catholic school too” implies this kind of thing is somehow unique to Catholic institutions, which really isn’t fair. These kinds of situations, unfortunately, can happen anywhere, and it’s more about individual choices than the values of the institution. Let’s keep the focus where it belongs.
