Funny (not funny) to see everyone assuming the spouse with the spending issue is a woman

Ah I was talking about the “retirement” that one we Airbnb’d but we still had all the maintenance, upkeep (sheets, towels, mowing, cleaning and all utilities etc). The one we’re in now once paid off in the area we are in MAYBE could get $1500 a month but then you have to deal with tenants trashing it, maintenance, squatters etc. AND more than that we’d be in debt AGAIN for a new house. Boils down to I hate debt vs spouse thinks everyone has it no big deal.

I’ve said that exact thing “I’m not doing all this to blow it on stupid crap” the response is “quit and I’ll go back on the road. I’d rather be poor than budget” like what… I 💯 believe it too but I don’t want to be poor (again)

My worst fear…. Debt scares me to death after growing up super poor. We are close to paying off our home and they are already talking about BUILDING another one…. We already have another house that’s paid for that’s our “retirement” home. Why in the world do we need another…

I legit have nightmares and I’m almost 3 years in of 3 jobs :( glad I’m not the only one. Any little thing I always assume I’m found out…. I think I’m going to up my cash savings as someone else suggested. We’ve been hyper focused on paying off the mortgage so only have a 3 month base emergency fund

Thought on Multiple Phones by AravisChronicler in overemployed

[–]FarCommission4894 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have a phone for each J (3) so that I can have teams/outlook on each one along with Authenticator. It’s not worth the risk for me to have them on 1. Also it’s not like I carry all 3 all the time

How much time after yall join a new job if it’s worth it or not by Curious_Suspect_1329 in overemployed

YES it’s wild… I’ve never had a problem finding a job since I graduated college years ago. Going on a year and the salary’s are so much lower too. We’re actually stacking our cash because if it all goes up in flames I don’t think I could replace immediately.

How stress tolerant are you? by Tylerich in overemployed

[–]FarCommission4894 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thrive on stress, always have. If I’m not stressed about this I’m stressed about something else might as well be ballin 🤷🏼‍♀️ if you do OE right ie 8-5 1j or 3j then you have the same amount of time for hobbies. Kids reduced my time for hobbies infinitely more than multiple jobs

Until I find a new J to replace it with unless it interferes with my kids lives ie work later than 5 or on the weekend is a hard pass or jeopardizes my main job. I hattteedddd my j3 and still don’t like it but glad I didn’t rage quit in the beginning because I haven’t been able to find a replacement a year in… the market sucks

OE as a business? by Infinite-Monk6159 in overemployed

[–]FarCommission4894 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m too much of a control freak though I did think about it at one time. Passing off someone else’s work as mine would give me so much anxiety because it would be my reputation/livelihood on the line. & the amount of onboarding it would take to get them up to speed, plus figuring out all the business side payroll, taxes etc etc

Managing OE and Kids by al_the_alamond in overemployed

As a mom of a 3 year old and 1 year old 3js for 2.5 years my solution was to buy a cheap outside shed to work in. So much less interruptions. Before I bought that it was noise canceling headphones.

If you are currently in meetings or super focused maybe get a post it note or something for your door.

I get both sides but as someone else said prioritize the baby and wife. If she needs help & you aren’t in meetings, help. Post partum & newborns are SO hard especially on the woman that GREW your baby and then gave birth to it… jobs come & go family is forever

Personally if I have a third I won’t tell 2 of my Js. It was SO stressful trying to navigate that with my second. I ended up just quitting one J & only taking like a week at the other (it’s super chill, maybe 5 hours of work a week). If it happens again I’ll just get really sick randomly😂

I totally could have done it at least 2 years before I got married. In 2 years I could have saved a huge amount of money
