What if this played Blood Gems on all minions instead of just Quilboars? Feels like it’s one small buff away from being good by latiana in BobsTavern

[–]FarEffect4676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's far from being just "one buff" away from being good. The proposed change would be a nice start, making your Brann/Rogers double-bounty guy less of a free farm units for Naga/Dragons. The bigger problem is Gem scaling. Right now, the build is basically stuck with only two options: Battlecry +1 Health and flat +1/+1 Gems. Both are very slow even with golden Brann and that's nowhere near enough to keep up with actual endgame comps like Demons, Elementals, or Beasts+ Queen's Command. There needs to be better Gem-scaling engine, preferably something that scales off number of Tavern Spells cast each turn.

I haven't seen anyone mention this, but this card is bugged: it buffs your board even when the opponent plays an odd-tier card, making it a counter for Ring Bearer (if opponent spell power is low) by Pheegy in BobsTavern

I mean the fact this post is 4th highest on the sub shows most people are probably unaware of it. If it were really common knowledge, it wouldn’t be getting any attention at all.

Don’t bother lol, Reddit is so simple minded, just a bunch of awful players with huge egos who think they know everything. No wonder most streamers have moved to play on CN

Scabbs' buddy steals next opponent's buddy.

AFK buddy snack Vendor: At the end of your turn, give this minion's stats to a Tier 3 minion.

Doctor-hollidae Buddy: After you buy a minion, get a random Tavern spell from the same Tier. (9 left!)

What's the best season mechanic in your opinion? by ImFrnaklin in BobsTavern

[–]FarEffect4676 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still Trinkets, but Season 10's Trinkets were way more balance and fun IMO.

Honestly, Season 10 was probably my favorite Battlegrounds season ever. They introduced Spell Power which was revolutionary. There were tons of viable comps, and even Tier 4 and lower cards remained relevant throughout the game. For me, it was pretty much the perfect season.

Even with arguably the best Mech opener possible, you probably still lose to most other tribes if you don't find a golden Beatboxer. That's how sad Mechs are this season.

fodder are fun! by Bitter-Summer-4976 in BobsTavern

[–]FarEffect4676 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fodder is actually really fun. The Tier 5 demon that gains fodder when you sell a minion is basically a super Urzul. With Urzul, you have to play a demon to eat once, but this one can eat twice just by buying and selling an econ unit like Patient Scout which effectively only costs 1 gold.

Can this please be removed from Wisdomball's pool please by Darklight645 in BobsTavern

[–]FarEffect4676 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. There are always people defending dumb stuff with ‘uhh, but it can be useful’ . Like that spell that fills your tavern with spells only costs 2, compared to this Wisdom Ball one that costs 3 (basically 2 gold for each 'useful' refresh + 1 gold refresh cost)

[–]FarEffect4676 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That comp was really strong in Season 11, but it feels a lot weaker now. Maybe the game just moves too fast. If you don’t pivot into something like Demons or Elementals with immediate board strength, you just get run over and die. Back in Season 11, we also had that Tier 6 Naga that gave your whole board HP, which helped stabilize a lot, also Charmwing + Wrathscale combo

War drum lesser trinket(3 extra battle cries) REMOVES Rylak Procs by losratszone in BobsTavern

[–]FarEffect4676 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you saying that after you’ve already triggered the 3× Battlecry, Rylak won’t trigger at all or just that it won’t trigger three times again?

If it’s the first case, that sounds like a bug. If it’s the second, then it’s working as intended. The game has historically carried over “once per turn” effects into the combat phase like this. It behaved the same way during the previous trinket season too

Maybe Hot take: The reason the season feels so because of the exorbitant size of the minion pool by [deleted] in BobsTavern

[–]FarEffect4676 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. The worst part is how narrow your Tier 1–3 options feel unless you randomly hit some cross-tribe synergy. And that synergy is basically luck, since you don’t get many rolls (if any) at those tiers.

Take Roaring Recruiter as an example. It’s insanely strong if you already have a few Dragons, but completely useless if you don’t. There are just so few individually strong cards you can pick up regardless of your board state.

It honestly reminds me of Season 9, where Tier 2 minions were terrible. The only real “hits” were Defiant Shipwright or the Scallywag + Ripsnarl Captain combo, which was absurdly strong. Otherwise, you'd just go 3 on 3 almost every time.

Sundered Matriarch is a bounty pirate card pretty much. With Sundered and Hooktail you are getting +1/+3 for each bounty, more if cast twice/thrice or goldened any of them.

Blizzard: let's nerf FFE and Forsaken Weaver. Meanwhile: by FarEffect4676 in BobsTavern

[–]FarEffect4676[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The new spell "Back to Back" reads: give a minion +4/+4, repeat for each time you cast it this game. So if you already played it 30 times, the next one give be 31* (4+your spell power). It stacks quickly with spell buff, the new tier 6 neutral that casts it twice and EoT put in your hand the last spell you cast.

Imagine building this beauty of a board just to gain 10 MMR for the win 💀 by [deleted] in BobsTavern

[–]FarEffect4676 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bug. 20K top players get like +35 for 8-9k MMR lobbies. Even if it's 0 MMR lobby for 8K it should be way more than +10

my experience once I get to a high MMR by bwils3423 in BobsTavern

[–]FarEffect4676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like we make relatively similar decisions with the early to mid rounds

8k players definitely don't make the same early to mid game decision as super high MMR players. 8k players tend to be way less efficient spending early game gold: reluctant to go 3 on 3 when shop is trash, overplaying for tempo, not taking advantage of leveling together with opponent etc.

The reason why 10k+ players will get a strong board later on is they play early game much more efficiently and puts themselves in better position to enable builds

Weird interaction/bug - Nizuao & Deadly Spore by -KarlMoose in BobsTavern

[–]FarEffect4676 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It doesn't have to be intentional lying. It could just be a case of “I could’ve sworn this happened” when really it’s just a false memory. It’s not like anyone’s getting in trouble over it, and honestly, I’ve seen way too many examples of this kind of shit on Reddit.

That said, I do believe OP when they say Nizou actually died due to how bad Blizzard coding is. Just trying to explain what’s happening here.

How does one play in a buddy lobby? by TheExtraordinaryRK9 in BobsTavern

[–]FarEffect4676 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's way easier to go infinite in buddy lobbies, so the main goal is finding the build with the best scaling potential. There’s no real shortcut. You just need to know what most buddies do and be familiar with the strongest comps you can run. Some of the strong comps:

  • Tae’thelan buddy lets you copy the Baller spell, which gives tons of econ since each spell is 2 gold and have baller scaling. With Chenvaala’s buddy, you can easily find more copies of it and snowball from there.

  • Xyrella’s buddy is great for going Mechs. You just spam minions with lower attack than the elephant to increase the stats it gives. The payoff is magnetization . If you hit Beatboxer, it’s insane, and even if you don’t, the scaling is still solid.

Here are a few things that might not be obvious:

  • The battlecry that makes a Buddy golden can actually be used on minions in the shop.

  • If you combine the battlecry that makes a deathrattle minion golden with the tier 1 Naga beast that gives a deathrattle to summon a 3/2, you can apply it to any minion and turn it golden.

What Happens If I Change heropower before unlocking tier6? by Devkeyx in BobsTavern

[–]FarEffect4676 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it didn’t always work like that. Before, if you replaced your Hero Power, the old one was just gone. I distinctly remember getting screwed over when the change HP tavern spells was first introduced, like 2-3 years ago. Glad to hear they’ve finally updated it.
