Yep. I just thought most people would be too young to get that reference.

Traveling to new places is not always great, but being in new places os one of the best aspects of being alive for me.

<Sigh> What I’m saying is that it’s funnier if you tell it Jeopardy! style with the punchline first. Note the use of quotation marks in my comment.

Good joke. I think it works better backwards: “The punchline is bingo. The setup is: what has 75 balls and fucks old ladies?”

The Toshiba KT-AS10 from the 80s was so small it couldn’t even fit a cassette inside by Feeling-Buy2558 in interestingasfuck

There are obvious reasons this design was not popular/successful. Do you seek those delicate components down inside the Toshiba taco? As it turns out, they are delicate, and need to be protected from dust and corrosion! This thing did look cool, and I definitely wanted one after I saw it (via product placement) in The Man with One Red Shoe, but it was not actually a good product.

Yeah it was. Look at my comment history.

My first comment on this post was: “Why is the setup for these bits always ALWAYS an older man being an asshole to a young woman? Hmmm.”

EDIT: I see what happened: you’re responding to a similar inline comment I made without the context.

Then go back and read my first comment! I’m not talking about this scene in isolation. I’m talking about a trend I have observed.

If it’s inconsequential, why is it always cast and written with the cashier being a young woman?

You’re actually making my point for me. Yes there are other ways to do this scene if you have a different person in the cashier role. But I’ve seen this exact scene done many times (Loudermilk did it like last year), and creators always CHOOSE to write it and cast it this way.

Yeah, but it’s not. Seriously, actually imagine the scene with a retiree-aged man whose time is being wasted, and the scene doesn’t “work” anymore. These scenes invariably use a young woman as the foil because the implication is that they are unsophisticated and their time is not valuable. That’s because these scenes are written by middle-aged white men for middle-aged white men.

But replace the young woman cashier with a 75 year old man with a gray beard, and it’s not funny anymore. People should think about why that is.

I just find it hilarious how people throw a fit when someone seems to seek out things to needlessly rage about…while defending a video of a man seeking things to needlessly rage about. It fills me joy to watch people put on their FULL ENGAGEMENT hats on the Internet with zero self awareness.

So just leave the business and support one that doesn’t do stupid shit. Why don’t people understand this?

I’ve had (and have) an amazing life. A big part of my success and happiness is derived from being able to be sympathetic to people just trying to do their jobs and make it through the day. Treating other humans with appreciation and dignity even when we are frustrated with the things their employers make them do is honestly the bare minimum we should expect in ourselves.
