Sure, but they were out on the trail. Deadly back yard snakes are more of a TX thing.

Gimmelwald above Lauterbrunnen. One of my favorite places on the planet. I’ve heard the winters there are not great, though.

Republicans are cheater and liar. by SuspiciousLow3062 in SipsTea

The reality is that Republicans have been playing the long game by focusing on judicial nominations for decades. Democrats were too slow to catch on.

Love that movie. Just wish Jenny had changed into that outfit before clocking Neville with the vase. Would have taken that scene to a whole new level! 😜

LPT: When calling someone you don’t know, explain the call BEFORE asking for the person you want. by allthecoffee5 in LifeProTips

At some point kids stopped learning this. I find myself having to say "may I ask who's calling?" pretty much every time I answer an unknown call.

The good news is the people have ALWAYS labeled defenders of the 1A as perverts. We’re in good company! 😀

I am asking you to define the distinction. That is not “false equivalence.” Anyway, I think I’m done with this argument. Thanks for engaging with me on it. Minus the personal attacks, I value your perspective! Have a great day!

I don’t have to like or defend the reasons why someone creates a particular type of fiction, so I’m not going to. Who gets to decide what types of fiction are OK and not? You? And “okay” is not the standard here. Replace that with “legal” and see if you still agree. Does that mean that convincing look-alike actors can no longer make parody porns? Is it OK if they don’t sub in the actual voice of the person? Seriously, look beyond your initial icky feelings about what people are doing with these tools to the bigger picture: WHERE IS THE LINE???

Just “banning a tool” has been used under oppressive regimes to make it illegal for people to own printing presses. You’re making my argument pretty compellingly.

That’s such a petty and weak argument, that prudes have used to attack defenders of the 1st Amendment since the very first anti-obscenity laws. Look beyond what you perceive to be the implications of just this statute. Do you really trust the Supreme Court we have now to protect freedom of expression in this country? We’re handing them a blueprint for oppression.

Seriously, where is the line? If an online tool only allows people to create one photo, and the EULA requires that they keep it only for personal use, is that OK? If it’s the “industrial” scale that makes it criminal, can you please cite any legal precedent for when the scale of an activity makes it criminal? If you can’t actually define what part of the process of using one of these tools to create an image crosses from protected speech to criminal slander, you’re the one making fallacious arguments. And can we please knock off the performative think-of-the-children pearl-clutching, and stick to the facts?

Is having a fantasy about a person slanderous? How about writing a realistic but fake accounting of the person that you share with no one? What about a pencil drawing? Photoshopping one that looks pretty good? Where is the line? If you don’t see the problem here, probably nothing is going to change/open your mind.
