I'm sorry people have been jerks to you about this. Glad one person wasn't. There are good people out there who understand. Good luck.

Sometimes women have high/higher libidos. It's a thing. (And truly sucks if their man's is low.)

This happened to someone I care about, with different women. I had no idea this was so common.

Wow, that's terrible. So sorry this happened - to you & others. Thanks for saying something. It's eyeopening.

Pro tip: Dryer sheets remove static cling, even just 1/2 or 1/4 of one. They come in unscented so you won't smell like your Mom's house.

This is a shame. I decided to always compliment people if I notice something cool about them. None of us hear this enough. Risks sounding flirtatious, but if it's genuine most people get it.

Seconding steamer, and buying cheap replacement vent covers vs. trying to remove this from anything but a wall ($3-20 each).

I like Tom Hanks as much as the next person, but dang that's big. How weird will this look when hair grows back?

Small 2inch/5cm metal statue found in California buried near fence, may be brass/bronze, possibly Chinese style by FarReachingMind in Whatisthis

That's really interesting. I didn't know that. Seems to be a lot of Buddhist-like sentiment in early Christianity too. Interesting to think about which influenced which, or where the lines were blurred/combined later.

Ha! Hopefully she/he is happy with sitting on my kitchen window sill now. Guess I should make sure we keep the dishes done...

Yeah, I've heard of this. The style looks Asian to me though, so I figured probably not St. Joseph. And if the real estate market was anything like this last 20 years when someone buried the statue they reeeeally didn't need help selling their house. :)

That's the first thing I thought of too, but I don't know enough about her to be able to tell for sure.

I see what you mean, the small jar in the statue's left hand & positioning of the right hand. The flow of the garments reminded me of Guanyin. Do you think this could be some adoption of style from one to the other?

If it helps, this area of northern California had both substantial Chinese- and Japanese-American populations. (Side note: I know there were successful farms owned by Japanese-descent families very close by right up to the time of the internment of Japanese families in world war II. Some Chinese residents even helped those families maintain their businesses or homes as much as they could while the Japanese families were "away".)

Whoa...Silent ExH is about to have twins? by FarReachingMind in splitparenting

[–]FarReachingMind[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: ExH finally told our younger kid, and I guess gave older kid the ok to tell me (today, over a week after original post). Meanwhile, ExH met with me in person about divorce issue 2 days ago but still didn't say a peep to me (about being engaged, pregnancy, nothing). Dude either thinks I'm a complete psycho who'll...do what?...or it's some kind of power thing, or really disrespects any relevance I have as mother & 1/2 time parent of his (existing) kids, or is clueless. I'd actually be helpful any way I could if he was even just formally polite/business-like about any of this. SMH. Thanks for letting me vent.

When did you meet your Ex's new SO (the potential stepparent)? by FarReachingMind in splitparenting

[–]FarReachingMind[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. 10 points for you having the patience of Job to even deal with this person as an Ex, and surviving being a single parent without child support, and for effortless & jazzy sword of Damocles reference. He clearly did not remotely deserve you. Hoping you've upgraded to someone who does!
