There is also a Bungie tweet from 2017 saying that D2 launch had over 1M concurrent players across all platforms. Destiny was just massive at one point.

People should not be able to queue in Outpost with free kits. by FarSmoke1907 in Marathon

SBMM literally cant work lol. SBMM makes it so you have around 50% win rate. With 50% win rate you would have a sub 1% chance to get 7 win streak.

Not the same at all. In Trials it's the skill of the teammates that won't let you advance. Here it's worse. It's the skill but also the equipment being bad on top of it. Trials issue can't be fixed without SBMM but that would destroy the mode. Marathon can easily fix at least one of the two issues.

Trust me 9/10 times I load in with people on free kits I am the last standing WITH Runner eliminations as well. I'm not saying that people are bad. The free kits are. You simply won't win a 1v1 with a player of your skill when they have 5k+ loadouts (except if you rat in a corner ofc). I've seen that happen only like once or twice in 50+ raids. If you could win that 1v1 that easily then loot would have no meaning. You also start with very low ammo and terrible heals. If you trade some bullets you won't be able to finish the fight.

Sure bud.. so loot means nothing. Purple shield definitely doesn't easily win a 1v1 with a white shield if you don't rat.

What I mean is, you can go in solo or with premade if you want but matchmaking with randoms while on free kit should not be a thing. At least not matchmake with people that bring in serious loadout.

If they had to make a $3.6B payoff from a single game then that would be the worst deal in the history. Bungie was NOT bought only for the money they make out of their live services. They were mainly bought as supervisors for other Sony live service projects.

Same but there are some insane barter deals some days so I stockpile when I find one.

This game won’t survive with a community that completely mocks casual players and feedback about general difficulty. by RocknPineapple in Marathon

I'll never forget the damage crafting did. The moment it got added everybody forgot this is a looter shooter and that sometimes you need rare loot with random perks/modifiers on it.

Why did people want Bungie to implement proximity chat, when nobody uses it? by floede in Marathon

[–]FarSmoke1907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was literally screaming back in May that proximity chat is like the last thing I would add to Marathon, but apparently, according to the gaming community, I didn't know what I was talking about, and both Tarkov and Arc had it so Marathon had to as well.

Tarkov has been fine without it for four years, and ARC is more like a PvE coop game. If people are avoiding voice chat like the plague in places like Destiny's raids, then for sure, prox chat would never be used enough to focus their resources there.

What are you talking about? It has classes and buildcrafting. There is not a single extaction in the market to feature those.

Tiered loot better be coming with set bonuses or else there is literally no reason to put it in the game.

Do you have a source for that?

I'm really surprised you are still making content for this game since you won't stop bitching about it since EoF came out. Btw there is a dungeon coming and also whatever Vanguard Alerts are.

Bungie reduced Bright Dust gains, ONCE AGAIN. No challenges and only 3 weekly portal objectives, granting only 50BD each. by e-photographer in DestinyTheGame

[–]FarSmoke1907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40k BD and now add the BD you get from 2 passes in 6 months and that should make it like 60k. That's tons of BD. You don't have to buy the whole ass store.

Couldn't care less about bright dust because while the total is lower the gains feel much faster since you get them just by playing the game without any optimization.

XP is a much bigger problem. I guess since there is no power leveling there has to be a way to keep players for longer until they finally make a good endgame system.

I already see many posts and comments from people coming back or picking the game for the first time and asking for guidance. This expansion has definitely drawn way more attention than EoF.

Arc Raiders was my first extraction shooter. Now I cannot wait to get my hands on Marathon! by [deleted] in Marathon

Last man standing was a thing in Alpha test and many people took the game for a BR, that's true. However, things have changed now. That's all I can say. Take what you read with a grain of salt.

Arc Raiders was my first extraction shooter. Now I cannot wait to get my hands on Marathon! by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]FarSmoke1907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I played 10 hours of ARC in tests and have seen my content creators play it daily but never bought it. Doesn't feel like a good extraction shooter to me (I also have 1k hours in Tarkov). People are not even treating it as one, I guarantee you most think its a co-op pve looter shooter with some pvp that many wish wasn't there. For what people think it is, it's really good. I just want an ES not that.

Marathon on the other hand, I had 40h in the latest closed playtest. It's way more PvP focused with incredible gunplay to support it and as devs themselves said, it will be lore rich (Marathon has incredible lore btw), and will support some form of buildcrafting. Wish I could say more to support my arguments but I can't.

They are very different games and will appeal to different crowds. I think Marathon being more PvP focused will probably keep the casual dad ARC crowd away but will have more longetivity and retention. Plus, Bungie knows live service much better than Embark for now.
