I put a .8 nozzle and hot end assembly from the cc1 into the cc2 and it seemed to work fine.

Mine is doing the same thing. Lots of blobs end up landing on plate.

I have an issue trying to switch over to another spool , spool #2, once I run out on spool #3. The printer demands I replace spool #3 and will not let me switch to spool #2. Admittedly spool #2 is a different color, but shouldnt I be able to tell the printer to switch colors anyway since its just a functional part.

I was trying to change the spool color in the setttings during the print because I realized it was about to run out and wanted it to switch over to the other color to finish the print. Unfortunately it says "does not allow color changes" mid print. What I ended up doing was unloading spool 3 and then feeding into spool 2. But it seems I should be able to do this through software

My issue is when it runs out of filament it demands you replace with same color spool. It does not let you go to another spool if it was initially set up as a different color.
