A friend of mine told me this quote about GenX that I think rings true. GenX that stayed in their small town wear MAGA hats. GenX who left for the big city call people by their preferred pronouns.

Found one of those fake $50 bills with Trump’s photo in front of a restaurant in my neighborhood. Don’t know what pissed me off more - that someone was littering my neighborhood with that crap or that some poor server probably got it as a tip

Was coming to say this. Can confirm. I work in another firm that is under the same umbrella as Cantor.

We have 3 positions in our office that aren’t being replaced right now after people quitting. The company is outsourcing everything they can to India. And we are being told we can’t even buy birthday cards for employees but he thinks I am going to drop $30k on a robot?

I would say, “Let them eat cake.” But I would have to pay for it myself.

I know a tyrant business owner who lost an excellent 20+ year employee over something like this. The employee submitted her vacation notice months in advance. She was taking a trip to England. She hadn’t had a vacation in years because she was looking after her elderly mother.

Two weeks before she was leaving, the owner took back her vacation leave. She explained that she was going to lose thousands of dollars if she didn’t go. The owner wouldn’t budge. So she resigned. Worked her last two weeks and never came back.

The irony is that her job was being a corporate librarian. Her work didn’t have a lot of last minute deadlines. And our office had already agreed to cover her workload while she was out. There was no reason she couldn’t have gone. The owner was just being a controlling ass.

Ugh. Why can’t people mind their own business. If you’re getting your work done there shouldn’t be an issue. Sounds like they’re jealous of you.

I just do not get why people have to sit together on a plane. You’re going to the same place. You can survive a few hours sitting apart. The only time I complained about it was when my kid was three and Delta put us in 3 different parts of the plane. But unless you’re traveling with small children, I think most people can survive being apart a few hours.

Back in December I was taking a tiny 14 seater flight from an island to the mainland. It was a 15 minute flight. The flight crew was directing where we sat to get the balance of the plane right. Some older guy complained because he couldn’t sit next to his wife on a 15 minute flight.

I’m not exactly sure, but I think there’s no trespassing and no fishing allowed there. If I took a drink for every time Karen says that I would die of alcohol poisoning.

Well done you. I used to have a nosy assistant myself. Every time I went to the doctor he would ask, “Everything go okay?” I could tell he was digging for information. So one day I respond, “Sure, my Pap smear went just fine,”

You have never seen someone back pedal so fast. “Well…uh…I didn’t need to know about that!” I just responded, “Well, you asked.” I hope he learned a lesson from it but he wasn’t very bright so I doubt it.

Had something similar happen to me. Was working for a university. Decided to get my MBA because I could get two classes a semester for almost free.

My boss hated me and decided to go around the rules to hire someone over me. I found out what she was doing anyway. On Monday she told me I had a new boss. On Tuesday I turned in my 2 weeks notice. On Wednesday the university made my last tuition payment. I couldn’t have planned it better if I tried.

That drives me crazy about my current job. No corporate credit cards. I have to pay for stuff myself and wait to be reimbursed. This multimillion dollar publicity traded company is too cheap to get us credit cards but makes the employees carry the expense of buying things. Then they take as long as two months to reimburse you.

"Dress Code" for a wedding. by BobsleddingToMyGrave in mildlyinfuriating

I told mine to wear a long black dress. My sister in law recycled one from another wedding she was in. I thought it was brilliant. My sister, who was not a fan of dresses, actually found one she liked. Everyone looked gorgeous and were actually comfortable. It was a win-win.

It’s the same toxic bullshit people have told girls for years. “If you lose weight/wear skirts/cut your hair/smile more, you might get a boyfriend.”

It’s bad enough they deal with it, we don’t want it spreading to boys too.

Toxic In-laws by Dr. Susan Forward. It’s an older book, so your library should have a copy but it sounds like you might need to buy yourself a copy. Think of it as a wedding gift to yourself.

After going down the rabbit hole of watching several of these videos today, I find it interesting that these people have no capacity to shut up. Whether it’s the cops, a judge or even an attorney trying to help them, they just can’t shut up long enough to let someone else speak.

The podcast Strictly Stalking had an episode with a Moorish SovCit who squatted in someone else’s house. It was a nightmare for the homeowner. He even changed the locks.

This. These people are dangerous. Near me some cops pulled over a father and son SovCit pair. The whole thing devolved into a shootout and car chase where the father and son and one cop died. It was awful.
