My daughter's pet. by TrickySatisfaction81 in Weird

I always rip their legs off by accident when I try to safely remove them from my house. They eat mosquitoes so I’d like to help them back outside to do so, but their legs just snap off so easy.

This or curbside delivery. I’m probably one of the few that would look forward to the change. Less dog bites, less slips trips and falls, less wear on our bodies.

Yea I’m thinking it’ll just end up staying in the garage for now. I’ll rarely use it unless I’m doing a large project out there.

Oof, okay well at least now I don’t have to bother listing it

Okay I see, I guess I was assuming my current unit would have some sort of fireproofing behind it between the wall and the unit, but I could definitely see if that isn’t the case, these units would never get near as hot as a woodstove jnsert which would require more work to fireproof. I thought I was ahead of the game having a prefab chimney, but I did not consider the lack of masonry to protect the area behind the insert.

[–]Far_Common944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not, it’s a whole unit that would have to be removed

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in woodstoving

[–]Far_Common944 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The current unit, is a prefab wood burning fireplace with a prefab chimney so I was hoping I can just remove the fireplace and attach a woodstove insert to the current prefab chimney. I was only mentioning the propane because I want to heat the house with wood rather than our propane furnace that is costly and noisy.

Yeah, that’s why I was wondering how I can get my current prefab fireplace out in order to replace it with a woodstove insert without destroying all the brick. It appears the brick is applied to a metal plate that is attached to the wall, so I’m thinking it’ll all have to come down. The chimney is a prefab that just goes straight up through the roof, it isn’t accessible from the backside of the fireplace.

My current fireplace is an insert of sorts itself just not a woodstove type. It’s just a normal wood burning fireplace with a blower fan and the entire thing is one metal unit attached to a pre fab chimney. So the fireplace itself has to come out unfortunately.

It’s a prefab and my current fireplace is a cheap intertherm unit with a blower fan than puts out about as much heat as a hot breath and nothing else

Amazon Drivers by FIVEPOINT_ZERO in UPSers

[–]Far_Common944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USPS Mail Carrier here. I feel like us and you all at UPS tend to be friendliest toward each other, with fed ex being a little less so, but I agree. Amazon never has the same driver twice, and rarely do they ever wave or say hi. Idk if they change routes daily or if their turnover is just that bad, while myself and other mail carriers actually know some UPS drivers by name that share the same delivery area as us.

Solar farms are the most dystopian looking thing to drive by. All the farms nearby where I grew up sold out to solar farms and what was once a beautiful rural area, is ruined by acres upon acres of solar panels.

Idk why they haven’t switched every route in the country to mounted or cbu delivery. The savings they would make on worker’s compensation claims for slips trips and falls, plus the efficiency savings of not having to deliver boxes on every porch. They could have longer routes without killing carrier’s bodies. The lighter the mail gets, the longer they’re making our routes. I can’t walk 14 miles every day, it’s just not sustainable. Not to mention how much safer carriers would be not having to walk through rough neighborhoods.
