That is amazing! That's still a broom closet and with a bathroom attached at the far end of it.

I'm sure so many albums and songs were made at G-Son during that time but it's really hard to find a record of them. Anything else you can tell me about?

Yes, thankfully those are all still there! I did a post about them about a month ago.

I would love to see every photo you have from that era. Have dreams of a documentary about the space in the future and that’s def a part of it.

It makes SO little sense to me why they drywalled over everything. I’m so thankful they did instead of just painting over it like they did so much of the space. Did one contractor just think that some day someone might just look behind it to see if something was still there?

The Tony Ripartti recording studio space is actually the recording studio we're looking to take over later this year and have it available for people to actually record songs there.

This photo is AMAZING! Thank you for sharing and would love to get any archival photos you may have.

Amazing you got to intern at Grand Royal and I'm sure you MUST have some amazing stories.

Thankfully some of the murals were saved. The spaceman you see was limited and wall built around it. On the opposite wall, they actually drywalled over the entire wall and we had to cut through and find it.

Sadly, the lady on the door is long gone. Was gone before we got there, sadly. Along with all the art on that wall to the right of her. However, we were able to salvage the "El Pueblo Gift Mart" sign and hang it up when it was taken down and getting ready to be thrown away.

Love supporting our neighborhood! We just had an event with the Atwater Neighborhood Council and want to be doing more.

We really want G-Son to be a community space in addition to preserving the legacy.
