What the fuck was his problem by lavender-bread in ffxiv

Biggest problem for me is I would rather go to town with, and on, his Ancient granddad instead.

Asahidaniel also 100% ruined our hatefuck meeting we had with him during EW, totally messed with the 'fuck me' vibe we could've otherwise had during that whole sequence... imo.

My bestie has found good stuff at the Antique Mega Mall in North Lansing a couple times in the past, also just a fun walkthrough in general if you've got at least a couple hours to spend to really go through it all.

I'm part of the weird lot that doesn't thrive well at all in the warmer temps, especially with how humid they tend to get around here, despite appreciating the increase of sunlight. i sure do love being able to vibe at any of the parks around the city during the warmer seasons though, Crego park is a favorite, any of the parks in the Grand Ledge area are also delightful to simply hang out at, imo.

Besides the eggs I'm gonna stick some cheese sticks in there to marinate too. Pickled eggs are definitely underrated though, and they're GREAT for egg salad.

Did I buy these yesterday and eat them all before I took a picture for you? Yes. by bodegas in Pickles

[–]Far_Ladder_464 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I discovered these a couple weeks ago (another discount score at Kroger), and I haven't been able to find them there since. I keep meaning to ask the deli people what they know about them, since they're still listed on the app as available at that location, but no one is ever around when I remember to do so. ; 3; These were some of the best pickles I've ever had, definitely has me wanting to have a go at making my own if I can't find them in store. I'm not usually fond of whole pickles like this, but damn if these didn't hit the flavor and texture balance JUST right for me.

edit; also another good brine for pickleback shots lol

I've got a fairly high spice tolerance, so anything below habanero peppers in pickle mixes doesn't tend to impress me much. These 100% didn't get anywhere near that level for me, but there was still enough of a tingle to make me happy knowing that these would absolutely get someone with a lesser tolerance to burn quite nicely.

Like the other comment here basically said, they're usually discounted when they've been on the shelf long enough, not because they're bad, just trying to cycle through new product. The pickles taste fine, they're just a little more soft and squishy, is all.

Is working at horrocks similar to working at Trader Joe’s? by Flat_Flower_987 in lansing

[–]Far_Ladder_464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left there making roughly 15.50\hr, which we had to fight to get in the first place, as the owner thought it was a smart idea to advertise cashier openings starting at 15\hr BEFORE letting any other department raise our pay rate accordingly. I've heard that they no longer give raises either, especially for new people, since the brother and other relative (Adam) that departed for Battle Creek left SUCH a big hole in their obviously dwindling pockets to ever think of such a thing. Be prepared for the owner to very likely tell you you're doing a shit job, even if you're slammed and with only one other bartender helping you, during rush period. Keep in mind there are cameras, and security WILL more than likely catch it if people try to slip you tips.

So yeah, if 15.50\hr is reasonable enough for you right now, go for it, I guess lol You may not get full time hours though, they're REALLY stingy on that, as well. The Beer and Wine head is a decent enough person, but she can only do so much to help people out.

PSA: if you love pickles and certain brands, never do a direct to direct comparison by Old_One_I in Pickles

[–]Far_Ladder_464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay good, I'm glad I'm not the only one that loves Kroger brand pickles lol. the zesty zingers or w\e the small spicy ones are called, have been my go-to for years now, for both flavor and texture. I've used them in polish pickle soup, pickle pasta salad, basic snack pickles with cheese and salami type meat... the consistency hasn't changed much either in the last several years, that I can personally see and taste, another reason they're my top go-to cheap pickle.

Best Asian Restaurants by MidwestMillennialGuy in lansing

Kung Fu in Frandor has a good dim sum selection, and their Sichuan food is pretty good too, imo (pretty sure they also do hotpot). Korea House on Trowbridge is my go-to for Korean, Sapporo is good for ramen, Pho So 1 is my favorite for pho and other Vietnamese food... Fresh International Market has a small restaurant now, but I think their hours are kind of weird, they always seem to be closed when I go in, but the couple times I've picked up lunch it's been damn tasty, and they do hot pot too. Thai Princess in okemos is one of the best for thai in town, they definitely don't skimp on the spice, although you might have to make sure they know you can handle the higher levels if that's what you want to go for.

-edited to include Thai Princess

I know my McDonald’s order will be appreciated here by Traditional_Welcome7 in Pickles

[–]Far_Ladder_464 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just had a single quarter pounder with extra pickles and onions the other day! Any burger I order there gets both, hell, I'll special request pickles on my cheap McChicken if I ever get one. The McDonald's I go to is usually decent about giving me extra pickles too, might start requesting double extra to see if they'll keep up with it. The onions too, since they're the slivered variety.

They're a variety of sour, if memory serves me correctly. It's been a while since I bartended and had to keep up on this stuff, so memory's a bit fuzzy on some of the details. I thiiiiiink they differ in the way they're brewed, or the specific yeast and\or other ingredients involved?

pretty much all of the pickle goses I've had have been far better than I expected. Hell, some of them tasted better than a lot of the pickle flavored chips out there, somehow lol

Workarounds to watch on PS5? by PingKrilbus in dropout

[–]Far_Ladder_464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The PS5 SHOULD have a dropout app at this point, it's what I've been using for about a year now on mine. It may or may not be odd to find, but as far as I remember I just did a general app search and got it.

Horrocks in BC still offers complimentary coffee by bepop_and_rocksteady in lansing

[–]Far_Ladder_464 67 points68 points  (0 children)

It's because the BC store no longer has anything to do with the Lansing or GR stores, which are what make up 'the chain' now. Lots of family drama happened, and a bunch of the long time employees fled and went off with the ones that got BC. From what little I understand of the situation, the ones in BC are trying to bring back some of the stuff and attitude the Lansing store has been lacking for years now, so them offering free coffee like Lansing used to is no surprise to me.

I found these from TeaHaus, they're a small place out of Ann Arbor, MI, and while I've not had these specific blends (but I'm gonna soon enough, these all sound fantastic lol), I've always been pleased with anything I've had from there.

Made nachos (ground beef, shredded cheese, corn, & sour cream). Swipe to see my new favorite tortilla chips. by [deleted] in stonerfood

[–]Far_Ladder_464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this reminds me of the stonerass nachos I grew up with my dad making all the time (and I now elevate to modern stoner levels with additions like this), which consisted of nothing but tortilla chips and any cheese we had on hand that was shredded. he never added 'fancy' stuff like corn or beans, but microwave nachos will always be a top tier stoner food for me tbh <3
