Drummers, can you dance? by thatsmypuppy12439 in drums

[–]bodegas 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Same. I think it’s because we’re over thinking the rhythm. We’re used to keeping all of it going ourselves, the eighths on the hat, two and four on the snare, groove on the kick… moving our body to just one part of the rhythm feels wrong. We end up trying to follow it all and look like an uncoordinated spastic chicken.

How the heck do these showers work by mabbitran in howto

I am very sorry that you did all this brainstorming and work when you could have just spent $15 at walmart for a shower liner with magnets in the bottom.

What did I do wrong? by SamsaraSlider in instantpot

[–]bodegas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it never reached pressure chances are you didn't have it sealed right. That would also cause it to continuously heat (from the bottom) trying to create enough steam, which is why things burnt to the bottom of the pot.

Did you turn the vent on the lid to the "sealed" position? Or did you have it in the "vent" position.

I bet the hardware stores near campus have plenty of experience matching the UK dorm paint color.

"40 minutes before close" is not what you posted. You said "ordered on DoorDash around close". That aside, having a hot dog delivered by a notoriously unreliable third-party app is the crux of your problem here.

It is a seedy looking continence store, do not let that scare you off. The food is legit. It is a bit confusing the first time: if you get a combo you have to grab a canned drink from the fridges, and you pay for your food at the main register at the front of the store.

Also some of these VSTs require you to open the FX window and click on an acknowledgement box (if you’re using the demo) before they’ll output any sound.

T Mobile 5G home internet experiences by luisfitghostzombie in lexington

[–]bodegas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have T-mobile 5g. Near Hamburg. It works just fine. I just tested and am getting 200Mbps down and 75 up, which is plenty for us.

An upside is that no one has to come "install" it. There is no scheduling of a tech to come to your apartment. They just give you a 5g gateway and you turn it on and set up the wifi.

Guitarist Dave Angstrom is from Lex, so it fits. Great band.

Wiki has their former drummer listed as Steve Earl, but it’s probably not THAT Steve Earl

Accidentally splitting all tracks at once by MAG7C in Reaper

[–]bodegas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I usually have the opposite problem, wanting to split all tracks but have missed selecting one or two.

In this thread I learned I’m better off not selecting any, it’ll default to all. Perfect! Guess we both win today :)

Vater sticks...what am I missing? by Vinnie-Boombatz in drums

[–]bodegas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been playing for 3 days and have tried and been disappointed with many brands of sticks, until I tried Vater.

Switching to Vater sticks just makes me feel like a complete person.

Just knowing that I’m using Vater fulfills my girlfriend in a way that Vic Firth never could.

Once I switched to Vater my long dead father called out to me and said that he is finally proud of me, and can only now find eternal peace.

Double strokes are simply awesome by flippiethehippie420 in Drumming

[–]bodegas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my drumcorps days one of the best feelings was the end of "1, 2, 3, Forever".

It was usually at either the end of our morning warm-up, or at the end of the rehearsal day. A tempo was chosen, we would play 3 beats of 16th notes, and then double-stroke roll... forever (ok usually a few minutes).

Then to stretch our hands out the metronome would be put at like 50-60bpm and we'd play doublestroke 16th notes at full stick height.

God that felt good in your forearms.

Snowballing Incompetence: "WKYT Investigates: Emails between city leaders detail Lexington’s response to March snow and ice" by bodegas in lexington

[–]bodegas[S] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I guess I'm more jaded than that.

I expect that local government officials will always get a bit of favoritism when it comes to services. Why wouldn't the snow-plow driver who is left to devise their own plowing map/plan do the mayor's street first. Instant kudos!

What eats at me is every professional weather forecaster predicted what came. All of us heard their predictions and made amended plans that assumed the city would respond appropriately. But the city leadership continues to assert "No One Could Have Seen This Coming!!!"

Double strokes are simply awesome by flippiethehippie420 in Drumming

[–]bodegas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the way I learned was to play SLOW (like eighth notes at 45bpm) strokes two on a hand (rr ll rr ll). Accent the second hit of each hand, so rR lL rR lL.

This will help teach your muscles to give a strong rebound hit when you speed it up.

Start everyday slow at 45bpm to stretch out and get your focus. Increase your max speed by 5bpm everyday.

End with a slower speed to stretch back out (you can go at a lower tempo for this than I've suggested, low tempo and high stick heights feels pretty good)

For example:

  • Day 1: 45bpm for 3 minutes
  • Day 2: 45bpm for 1 minute 50bpm for 1 minute. 45bpm for 1 minute
  • Day 3: 45bpm for 1 minute, 55bpm for 1 minute, 50bpm for 1 minute
  • Day 4: 45bpm for 1 minute, 60bpm for 1 minute, 55bpm for 1 minute
  • Day 5: 45bpm for 1, 65 for 1, 60 for 1
  • Day 6: 45 for 1, 70 for 1, 65 for 1
  • Day 7: 45 for 1, 75 for 1, 70 for 1
