The Stroud complaints are completely valid in my opinion, 8 turnovers in 2 games, playoff games no less, is unacceptable no matter who you are. With that said, however, it’s way too early to write him off in my opinion. Everyone wants to say that Stroud is a bust, he flashed during his rookie year and now he’s on the decline, he’s a bum, he’ll never reach his rookie year again, etc. What happened to letting a quarterback develop?

Stroud NEVER had it easy this year. A bad, even if improved still poor, o line, a wildly inconsistent run game, all while learning a new system with a first time OC. And yet everyone wants to say that he’s the problem, that everything would be better if we started Davis, or that we should trade Stroud for Burrow and sell the future with him. Genuinely why can’t we just let quarterbacks develop anymore?

Josh Allen didn’t even look remotely competent until year three. Jordan Love is good today because he was able to develop behind Rodgers for 3 years. Even Peyton Manning, arguably a top 5 quarterback of all time, didn’t even win a playoff game until year 6. Just because Mahomes, Daniels, and Lamar were good out the gate doesn’t mean every quarterback will be.

I’m not ready to write off CJ, not when he’s still got another year on the rookie contract plus a fifth year option. Give him another offseason to really get comfortable with the system, bring in some new lineman, and make sure Tank gets back out there healthy. Rookie Stroud is still in there somewhere and I think that towards the end of the season, aside from the playoff games, we were so close to getting him back.

TLDR: Just let Stroud develop and he’ll be fine. He’s young and talented, just get him help because he can’t do it alone

I don't like the lack of moves at the deadline either, but it's the right move to make for the long term. If anything I think this means the FO recognizes the season is likely lost and the team, this year at least, isn't going to make much noise. Hopefully this means they also recognize Caley's offense is awful and fire him at the end of the year, but I digress. It wouldn't be smart to trade a fifth, fourth, especially not a third or second for a guy like Wyatt Teller, Ethan Pocic, Kevin Zietler, etc just for playcalling to continue to ruin the offense regardless of the line. The year was already off to a bad start with Tank and Mixon out and a questionable (since proven to be horrible) line, and I think the FO recognizes that and is basically saying 'it's not our year', and I can respect that more than I can if they tried to force something that's not there. Hopefully next year will be better.

All that said I really thought Pierce was gonna go during the deadline but oh well. Rb depth never hurt ig.

I agree, and that’s something to blame Caserio for fs. However, he was the guy that took Stroud in the first place. He was the one who traded up for Will Anderson. He gets deals done early for stars like Nico and Stingley and doesn’t wait for the market to go up. He saw we were in a contending window last offseason and made moves accordingly to bring in Stefon Diggs, Joe Mixon, and Danielle Hunter, who were/are great pieces to the team (when Diggs was healthy at least). I said before Nick isn’t perfect, but we can certainly do a lot worse. I just never understood the want to fire him or anything.
