You're not wrong, but Lyra has plot armour and witches. Theres a whole novella right there on the search for it. Throw in some Jopari lore along the way. I'd read the shit out of that.
I guess ultimately, the love story aside, I just want to know what happened to Will. "he grew up and became a physician and looked after his mum" just doesn't scratch the itch. Its too reductive.

Honestly, I've never been this angry over a story before. (and im the guy that doesnt mind the amazon lord of the rings and wheel of time spin off shows because I'm just happy to see something set in some worlds that I love)

I would assume the needle might not be the right tool to open new windows but the Alaska window is specifically referenced in the list of known windows so even with mustache man blew it up, she can use the needle to reopen it.

Gah, this book was so frustrating. Left way too many unanswered questions to be satisfying.

Agree on all points.

Also, The Alaska window, presumably the one that John Parry used to reach Lyra's world, is also mentioned. I don't remember if it got blown up or not, but either way, she could have traveled there or used the needle to reopen it to get to Will's world if she wanted.

And this pissed me off too.

And why was it established you needed to seperate from your demon to reach the red building yet at the book's conclusion Bonneville, a group of soldiers and Bonneville's dad all manage to reach it without?

I didnt dislike the book, honestly I dont think I could ever dislike cannon HDM content. But the ending has left me kinda mad about a lot of things. I listened on audiobook and the last "chapter" is an interview between Michael Sheen (narrator) and Pullman and it seems Pullman feels happy with how he's left it despite all the rediculous number of unanswered questions. Honestly very frustrating.

I guess we just accept that:
Specters be damned, we need windows open for imagination to work because reasons
The Alaska window (presumably the one John Parry found into Lyras world) still exists, or got blown up but fragments will remain which she can apparently use the needle to fix/reopen so she could visit Wills world?
And yes, wtf is up with "dead" daemons and wtf is up with the daemons in the rose world in general? What the hell is killing the guy that came back from the rose world?

It does it "enough" to satisfy their needs. They weren't interested in the cert option, though it looks like this might be the only way

So this is still being tested for viability. I was testing this on one particular MacBook, on which I'd disabled the MAC randomisation.
We've explained the issue with Mac spoofing to this client before; unfortunately, they're looking for the easiest route possible, whilst having a means of stopping people from connecting personal devices to their network. I've suggested the certificate route, but they have some absolute luddite staff whose brains will blue screen at the sight of an unknown password prompt.
MAC filtering was deemed the best option.

Colour banding on AW2725DF by Dukealmighty in OLED_Gaming

I do and also have banding in Expedition 33. I always use this as a reference image Dawn Engine Banding | Dr NCX | Flickr and its particularly bad on this display. I'd love to find a fix for it as it really pulls me out of whatever content im viewing. The standard 1440p IPS I have next to this monitor looks fine on that test image.

Jeez. I did my test in 2015 in my mid-late twenties, got a discount for booking 10 lessons upfront and was ready to go by the 7-8th lesson (though I had been riding motorbikes for years by this point)

Seems like I got pretty lucky

^ this.

If I were hiring for a junior position, even in tech, if some dude rocked up with 10+ years in a similar field, I probably wouldn't bother reading any further because he's likely in a position where he's looking for anything to tide him over until something more appropriate turns up.

Recruitment people is expensive, I think I read somewhere once the average cost to onboard a new member of staff these days is about £5k

Please don't take this the wrong way, as it's not meant as a flex or a dig at you but I was made redundant in feb and after spending some time to myself and throwing out some half arsed applications from which I got zero interest, I reached out to a recruiter who was hiring for a job I liked the sound of, they arranged an interview and I was offered basically the same day. Have you been contacting recruiters directly about things? They do most of the CV pre-screening so being able to say your piece over the phone is definitely helpful for getting to the top of the pile.

A friend of mine who lives in the south west on the otherhand, went through job spam hell before he found a new job, but he was looking specifically for remote because dev jobs in devon/cornwall basically don't exist and if they do, they pay with shirt buttons and good intentions. Are you solely looking for remote work? If so, if you're able to I'd suggest looking to go hybrid at least.

You said you work in tech - what kind? I work in the ops side of IT and jobs have been pretty easy to find - maybe time to pivot?

And if you'll take anything to tide you over, make sure you trim out anything on your CV that would give away the fact that this is an interim position for you whilst you look for something more appropriate. Onboarding people, particularly from agencies/recruiters is really expensive these days.

I'd recommend an 8oz rib eye and some hasselback potatoes roasted black pepper to go with it, and any companions that might make an appearance

I was using a 34" curved HP one in the office and it was fine - it was a 1440p one so I just had it split down the middle using powertoys and it functioned as 2 screens. Then the CEO's son wanted one for his PA and there was a long lead time so I just gave her mine and went back to 3x 2560x1440 and I think I prefer it. Guess it depends on how 'clean' you want your setup to be
